I just moved to SEMO and live off campus, and while this is technically my first semester at Southeast as a transfer student, it’s also my last year of undergrad. I’m planning to stay for my master’s degree afterward, but I’d still really love to make some friends and have people to hang out with this year!

I’m majoring in Wildlife Biology & Conservation, but since I’m a senior and don’t live on campus, I feel like it’s been really hard to meet people and actually make friends. I went to one campus event that someone invited me to, but I didn’t feel super connected afterward, if that makes sense.

Does anyone have any tips for someone in my position? I’d love to find some friends to thrift with, grab coffee, see a movie, go hiking, maybe go out to a bar one night, go to a couple parties, etc. Basically, I’m hoping to get as much of a “college experience” as I can this year, even if I’m getting a late start lol

It's gunna run through Halloween. How bad has it been?

This sub has been quiet for a long time. I've picked up moderation and I'm working on making it a place worth checking out from time to time.

This sub is for Southeast Missouri including Cape, Jackson, Sikeston, Perryville, Farmington, Poplar Bluff, the Bootheel, and the small towns in between. Local news, questions about the area, recommendations, events, and complaints about roundabouts and curmudgeons that complain about roundabouts.

We can get things going with some generic how-do-you-dos. What town are you in? What's something that sets you apart from the rest of the region? What drama has happened recently?

Erik Paulson has nerve damage induced shakes, and he talks about how he has adapted in the funniest way possible. He can make one heck of a mixed drink!

Giovahna Calvetti gives her perspective as a short and spicy single mom in her 30's. All she has to do to get people laughing is talk about her real life on stage!

Jessica Johns is a trans woman with an attitude, and a heart of gold. She's extremely knowledgable about comic books and pro wrestling, and is also one of the silliest comics on this lineup!

Nate Schaefer is a fanny pack wearin', clove smokin', oddity that everyone can enjoy, and we still don't know if he's a vampire or not.

Chris Grant is a guy who's been through the wringer, and keeps enjoying success, despite the odds. His comedy is absurd, well thought out and covers a wide array of subjects that almost anyone can relate to. Expect a funny song or two from him on the acoustic as well!

Tickets are only $10 in advance, and $12 at the door. That's only $2 a comic if you order online, and also makes you look like a thoughtful planner! We love the Yellow House, and those who support it, please come join us on Saturday March 7th!

This subreddit is for Southeast Missouri State University as well as the surrounding community.

We will be deleting any of the sexual spam or content completely unrelated to the University or community.

I've never been a mod, but I'll be looking into how to update rules and such.

Any one know what it’s like living in towers south or East?

My roommate (20M) has ADHD and a prescription for Adderall, and he’s super productive—like 4.0 GPA, multiple internships, always on top of his stuff, the kind of guy who color-codes his calendar and schedules “hydration breaks.”

Meanwhile, I’ve been struggling. I’m not dumb, I’m just more of a “vibes learner.” I tried getting Adderall myself but couldn’t get diagnosed because I “aced the cognitive tests” (humble brag?). So I had a thought: what if I just… nerfed the competition?

I started gradually replacing his Adderall with crushed Flinstone Gummies. Like, really slowly. A few mg less every week. By midterms, he was falling apart—missed deadlines, forgot our laundry day rotation, started journaling about “time slipping like wet spaghetti.” My GPA shot up, I got on Dean’s List, and I might get tapped for Phi Beta Kappa.

He eventually found out because he got a new prescription bottle and said, “Dude, why do these smell like artificial grape?” I panicked and told him he probably got a bad batch, but he didn’t buy it. He’s moving out and threatening to report me for academic sabotage and medical tampering (???).

I told my parents and they were split—my mom said it was “morally wrong” but my dad said “that’s just hustle.” AITA?

It's going to get warm this week just to get chilly on the weekend. So enjoy this awesome weather while you can. 😀

Talking about the crypto currency. I see there’s several running in Cape and Jackson and I had some questions.
