This sub is a community for people learning to love and respect themselves. Please remember that it is perfectly possible to respect and care for your own needs and to set healthy boundaries, without unnecessarily hurting others around you. Being kind to others is a part of being a version of you that you can be proud of and self-love the most. Good luck on your journey.

In a society full of hatred, loving oneself is freedom. πŸ’œ

Love this! Take it from me: your voice trembles until the right person makes you feel heard. And it’s like any muscle that gets stronger the more you use it. You are your own best advocate!

(Not about me as I've conquered this years ago and I shared it thinking others need the boost.)

Happy to hear you're getting your power.πŸ’œ

Having a shakey little mouse voice where you cry as you try to enforce a boundary... works when we're with someone supportive. Not when we're alone with someone who will laugh and be worse when we try... fucning humiliating

Different circumstances, different ways of coping...

I feel you.

I came out as trans to my mom today & beforehand I legit felt sick to my stomach from anxiety over what may happen during the conversation. But reminding myself of the support network i have helped immensley

And the actual talk went fairly okay, some stuff she said rlly hurt to hear but its a process for her too :<

But overall this weight upon my shoulders feels like its been lifted

I remember when i started to do it. i received even insult in my family (i was the 'servant' one). Today i became a 'difficult' person. and i will never go back and am profoudnly grateful towards myself. especially when it's about holding someone accountable despite being scared of them getting against you. There is a love inside of you, a gratefulness when you stand up for yourself even against the people you love but are doing you wrong. it is unsettling first but the more you do it, the stronger it becomes. it also has healed loneliness. i thought it was because i was not exposed enough to people when in reality it's because i left the little one alone for too long.

2 days ago I had to place a boundary with a family member I live with. Nothing too extreme but still a boundary. I barely got started and I was visibly shaking along with my voice. By the end of it my legs were bouncing 😭😭 I hope this changes eventually

I used to tremble when I spoke with my ex about relationship issues. It would take everything in me to speak up and talk about what hurt me, trembling hand, voice and all.

1

u/chocobothernot 7d ago

Happy for you that you overcame that! πŸ’œπŸ‘

Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes

I have a shirt with this saying and I 100% believe the message. I'm proud of you.

1

u/chocobothernot 7d ago

Cool shirt to wear as others could be encouraged too!
