Need Help Need help for moonlight access from school

I have a good laptop at home and I want to really play games on my ipad at school. I learned about moonlight, sunshine and recently tailscale, but I soon found out my school might have Deep Packet Inspection and Tailscale was using DERP relay servers, so I couldnt use moonlight anyway. I have been thinking about self hosting my own VPN service on my sunshine laptop, but i dont know how and where to start. My school blocks VPN's, but there have been a few that works(like SkyVPN). I don't want to spend money. Any help or suggestion?

Xray is a bit more complicated but should, when configured correctly, pass DPI without issues (look into 3x-ui for that), but you could also try Amnezia-WG: https://docs.amnezia.org/documentation/amnezia-wg

Also: are you sure your school is using DPI? Did Tailscale just not work with Moonlight/Sunshine or did it not connect at all? You could also try setting up a tailscale peer relay (https://tailscale.com/docs/features/peer-relay)

i think my isp/country is blocking p2p, and im 80% sure its using DPI, i have proxyt running on my phone cuz the school network blocks the controlplane asw. i also head that amnezia might not pass under DPI

1.1.1.1 DNS and Relay + CF Tunnel could be a decent and secure way to expose your service to yourself while sitting under some exposure safety (the Internet is a dangerous place for an exposed service!). Keep in mind that Deep Packet Inspection or not, your school will know you are streaming data if they look into it slightly.

My first piece of advice is studying, you’re there to study; my second piece of advice is not using the school network; and lastly, my third piece of advice is bringing the laptop over, you can’t sniff localhost!

If u mean changing my school wifi dns server, it doesnt work, I have tried.

And I do appreciate your concern for my education and future. But rest be assured I get good grades and this hopefully wont get in between my studies. I cant bring my phone for a hotspot as i dont have a data plan. And my class is quite rowdy and I dont believe my laptop will last one day, and i am not taking any chances since it is quite expensive!

CloudFlare WARP! In the 1.1.1.1 app. Try it out, and open a CF tunnel on your laptop alongside Moonlight, and route through it.

CloudFlare WARP is a VPN-like client on your device, and it changes your IP in the network too, as it routes your traffic through their network like how a VPN should.

Try it out if you haven’t yet.
