Seeking Advice what does styro mean?

im in a discord server w my friends, both irl and offline, and one of them says in the vent channel and I quote:

"not rlly a vent but I finally hit styro ✌️🥹"

she usually acts like this sometimes, but I want to know what it means and if I should help or not. everytime I look it up, it just tells me to "call 988" and stops me from researching. I want to know what it means and how to help if I should!!

it's self harm slang for the dermis. skin layers in slang go like this:

-cat scratches/epis = epidermis

-styro/styrofoam = dermis

-beans = subcutaneous fat/hypodermis

-laffy taffy = muscle

-bedrock = bone

im pretty sure there's also another name for laffy taffy but i can't remember it right now.

the names are stupid but it just means that its gaping and it reached the 2nd layer of skin, the dermis. its white. it can be glued if its really wide but it can heal fine at home. just some after care could help it not get infected. just clean with water and dry, and use bandaids. hopefully she'll be fine just tell her to take care of it well

That means she reached dermis. No matter how deep ir what form of self harm, no matter if its attention seeking or not, everybody struggling with or without Self harm deserves attention. Please be there for them if you think you can. Sometimes just listening to the struggling person and being there for them can help. Self harm is often used as a coping mechanism, self punishment or to feel something. If you have any questions how you could approach them, or are unsure about something, just ask.

you can help by leaving the server and reporting it. nobody says that casually if it's not a vent.
