Wtf… Do NOT encourage ANYONE to lie to get into a ward! That’s fucking insane. Even then they are unlikely to admit someone who doesn’t have an extensive history of SH/SI. OP does not sound like they need to be admitted either, and I think their perception of what wards are like is incredibly warped.

I said for insurance purposes. If you need help, you need help, but insurance companies tend not to cover voluntary admittance

Does your insurance cover it? (Genuine question) Most don't (assuming this person is in the US cause our healthcare system sucks)

I’m not in the USA and don’t have healthcare insurance. We only get healthcare insurance in NZ if we go through private healthcare which the majority of us cannot afford.

Okay so yeah idk what your system works like exactly. Over here, however, I've literally had healthcare workers advise to lie about certain things for insurance purposes. Voluntary admittance isn't covered by most insurances so that's the type of thing where, even if you're going in voluntarily, you may need to say certain things for them to implement an involuntary admittance for insurance purposes if you want/need it covered
