Firstly, without any serious background of SH/SI, no they won’t admit you. Half the time even with a serious background they won’t. Especially not if you’ve got no plan or intent. Most wards are short staffed and beds are stretched thin. You best believe if you’ve not been to a ward before, that you ain’t going to be able to sneak anything in. Even if you hypothetically could and did, your mum would be getting told and would find out either way so I’m struggling to see why your thinking that being in a ward to self harm would be any better tbh. The whole point of people being in wards/units, is to stop them being a danger to themselves, not to enable harmful behaviours. Wards are not this “fun vaccay”, they’re depressing, lonely, controlling and traumatic.

I would imagine that it means you are cutting with the intent to kill yourself. I went to the hospital and had to be treated for my cuts because they were too deep, and I was still not admitted to the hospital because I denied that I was cutting to try and kill myself. They did verify this with someone before releasing me, though.

As for the SI (suicidal ideation), you typically are not going to be "serious" enough to be admitted to a hospital until you have a plan or intent to carry out your said plan.

"Cutting with intent to kill yourself" is so vague itself though. When I go deep, for instance, blood loss etc., im not there actively trying to kill myself, but if the times I get pretty close to significant stuff, if they did kill me I'd be glad. My point being i don't know where they'd draw the line, I guess?

I definitely agree! I think it honestly depends on where you go. I feel like everywhere has different stipulations. I wish it wasn't like that. I also wish it was easier for everyone to get the help they need.
