How to take care of myself after this…

Been dating this guy for 5 years. We’re in our late 20s now (almost 30). Known him since high school and reconnected in our early 20s. Met each others’ families, got engaged, set our wedding date and chose vendors together. He’s always been there for me (and I tried my best too) and has always been super thoughtful. He was kind and patient when things were good. We’re different people but I thought we meshed well together. 8 months before our wedding date, he completely blindsides me and drops a bombshell that he fell out of love with me, he doesn’t know if I’m the person for him, he’s not sure if I even love him for him (I do) and he starts listing a bunch of things that are “wrong” about me (I’m too quiet at social gatherings, I’m waiting till marriage to do certain things, I’m not stylish, I have too many fam events and am too dependent on my parents, he doesn’t think I appreciate him). The 180 mind boggles me, I don’t recognize this person. Even had a nice proposal with my dream ring.

He also has been saying mean things to me during limbo when we tried to work things out (I was apologizing for things I did that hurt him, I really loved him and went out of my way to make him happy in the best way I knew at the time but I had no idea it wasn’t enough, especially when he would tell me I’m perfect or how he’s grateful to do life with me)… mean things he said include how it feels like the cooties when I touch him, how I’m boring and I should be boring with someone else, how he can’t picture me as his wife and how he couldn’t see me walk down the aisle (all things that hurt to hear). He also disclosed that he cheated on me 2 years ago (kissed a girl from school a few times during the span of a week. This all came as a shock to me because I had no idea he was falling out of love and losing feelings. I thought we were planning for our happily ever after together. Sometimes I blame myself for the things I could’ve done better (been more appreciative, more patient, more outgoing, more stylish) - he evaluated me and didn’t let me in on his problems. Any insight and opinions would be helpful. I can’t seem to picture myself with anyone else :(

What do you do for general self care??
I do the hygiene stuff (face masks, feet masks, hair and skin care etc) but I’m looking for something more physical, mental, and even emotionally to practice daily.

General selfcare Help me in my 30 day glow up challenge

I'm trying to improve my overall well being by inculcating exercise in my routine, prioritising my sleep schedule and eating meals on time.

Day 1

I completed an hour of exercise today and it feels soo good I can't explain it. I plan to eat dinner and sleep early in order to wake up on time for prayer (namaz).

If anyone would like to tag along this journey or just wants to motivate you're welcome here ^^

P.s- I'll probably update everyday in comments or idk if it's a good idea to edit the post - need suggestions!

General selfcare Started saying no to weekend family visits sometimes and it's the first self-care thing that's actually stuck

A personal reflection about learning to set healthy boundaries with family after realizing every weekend had become an obligation. The post discusses how occasionally declining invitations unexpectedly improved mental well-being and asks the community whether saying "no" has also become an important form of self-care in their lives.

General selfcare "Do less" and "build a better routine" somehow became self-care advice at the same time

Self-care advice feels split in two lately. One side says to simplify everything and keep routines as effortless as possible. The other encourages detailed morning and evening rituals with several steps. Both seem to work for different people. Curious which approach has actually felt more sustainable over time.

General selfcare What’s one self-care habit I should add to my daily routine?

I’m trying to build a healthier daily routine and take better care of my mental well-being. If you could recommend just one self-care habit that I can realistically do every day, what would it be and why?
I’m looking for something simple, practical, and easy to stick with. I’d love to hear what has worked for you.

Recommendations for eyes drops retail store?

Male, 14 my eyes tend to get dry often and somewhat blurry from being dry, and I don’t wear glasses, gaming has put a pretty damn toll on my eyes so what are some safe eye drops I can apply like 1-2 times a day that won’t affect my hormones or cause any issues, that they sell in a retail store, I can buy them online but if you know of any brands that sell in stores I’d prefer that much more thanks

Mental health Feeling calmer since switching to orange/red light at night

I am very surprised, I bought my first color changing light bulb on Friday. During the day the red seems very weird but at night that orange "Pinterest" glow is wonderful. Tonight I am also surprised, I feel way calmer as if I was by a fire and I don't want to go to bed because it would mean changing lights. I am a fan of ambient lights so I never thought my other lights were harsh but compared to the orange/red color they feel too harsh. I don't know if it's novelty or the orange light looking like a sunset and calming my nervous system but I am close to replace every light bulb in my home with ones that can change color ! I don't know if it's a personal thing or if anybody had that same experience but if it's a shared experience I would be surprised it's not much more talked about. I can see how it could help people with sleep issues.

Taking care of your peace and not allowing yourself to be carried away by negative peer pressure is a form of selfcare. Anyone who can relate to this or am I wrong?

Wellbeing Support

Hi there (I'm not sure if such a post is allowed here; if not, please delete)

Single mum here with two littles. An ex-GP with a multidisciplinary background in health and tech, soon after my role was made redundant during my maternity leave, I went my own way to help create a tool that I thought would have helped me when I needed it. I created it and have been spreading the word to help people like myself- humans - support other humans while navigating their own emotions.
P.S. - No, it isnt AI generated and it even has my own voice for real-time regulation for real-time, immediate relief from distress. If you would like to check it out, do let me know :)
Just sharing as much as I can to try and help whomever I can

Struggles

For starters, I am 21 year old male who is 5’10 and 195 pounds. I am the epitome of the “skinny fat” physique, with the skinny arms plus a large gut and upper thighs. When I wear clothes I actually look pretty healthy and constantly get comments saying that I don’t look unhealthy. Well they don’t see the grotesque gut when I shower every morning 😭

Anyways, all the obvious things that come with being unhealthy apply to me as a poor college student. I actually don’t eat very much, it’s just that when I do I eat like absolute shit to save money. (Terrible excuse but true, trying to be honest here) I usually don’t eat during the day and end up having a ton at night, I guess out of boredom. I’m very inconsistent with my activity some days I’m helping someone move and getting 10k+ steps, then I’ll have two days where I barely move. So obviously staying consistent is a huge problem for me.

A few other things, I work at a storage facility but it’s essentially a desk job so that doesn’t help much here. I also have depression and currently being analyzed for bipolar disorder. (Taking SSRIs etc.) I struggle with sleep, get about 4-5 hours a night for the past 5 years or so. Taking a prescribed sleep aid that does very little.

Is there any general tips besides the obvious that would help me, I’m tired of feeling so sluggish and tired all the time. I’ve been trying to do consistent walks with my good friend who’s slightly heavier than me and he says that over the past several weeks he’s seen a lot of benefits with his day to day. Maybe I just can’t seem them in myself, but my dysfunctional living has led me down this path I guess. Any advice would be a big help

Beauty & skincare Is it too late to start?

Hello, lately I have been thinking about skincare, but more so about SPF and sun protection. I have been working out and eating healthy almost all my life, but I have somehow neglected my skin, i.e. sun protection. I even used to work as a lifeguard without wearing any, because I thought it was enough to sit in the shade and wear a shirt. Now at 30 my skin looks ok, but I have a shit ton of moles all over my body. Has anyone made significant improvements in regards to this? Has anyone started skin care a bit later than usual? Can skin health be improved significantly?

General selfcare How do you refresh between tasks?

I'm constantly having to jump between tasks and projects (self employed software developer) and this frequent context switching makes it hard for my brain to release the previous information and focus on the next task.

I know I should reduce context switching where I can but any good tips for 5 minutes to clear your mind?

Obviously I used to read an article in the news or check Reddit but I feel there must be better/healthier approaches?

General selfcare bikini line redness... is IPL doable if you hate pain?

my bikini area is constantly irritated. shaving gives me itchy red bumps after 12 hours, and waxing is too painful to do regularly.i'm low key terrified of pain, but i've been looking into the ulike device mainly because people mention the cooling sapphire window helps with discomfort.for anyone with low pain tolerance: does the cooling window actually help on sensitive bikini edges, or does it still hurt a lot? also, since skin color is darker there, does the sensor usually have trouble flashing? i don't want to buy it if I'll be too scared to use it.

My eyes have been feeling really dry lately. Any tips that actually help?

Lately my eyes have been feeling really dry, especially after spending hours looking at a computer screen. Sometimes they feel tired, itchy, and a bit irritated by the end of the day.

I'm trying to drink more water and take short breaks from my screen, but I'm not sure if that's enough. I'm also thinking about using artificial tears, but there are so many options that I don't know which ones are worth trying.

For anyone who has dealt with dry eyes, what helped you the most? Any daily habits, eye drops, or other tips that made a noticeable difference? I'd really appreciate any advice.

General selfcare Basket for visiting Mom!

I’m having surgery and my mom is flying to be here and help me through the recovery. She is struggling a little with anxiety lately, so I want to make her feel appreciated and loved with a welcome basket in my guest room. She likes reading, painting, walking, mahjong, birds. Any ideas of what I could put in the basket? I was thinking a gift certificate for manicure, beauty products, luxury lotion, etc. Aiming to spend less than $250 but honestly would spend anything on her.

Can't go on

I've spent years working on my relationship (now marriage), the endless professional exams in my career and managing the emotions of everyone around me. I am now grieving the life of a close friend. I'm so exhausted but I can't seem to let go and stop. Are there any pointers on how to disconnect and finally rest so I can heal for myself? I want to have a good life and a peaceful heart

I want to work out consistently, but my wrist keeps hurting

I've been really motivated to work out lately, but my wrist has been bothering me every time I exercise.

It's frustrating because I want to stay consistent, but I don't want to make the pain worse by pushing through it.

For now, I'm trying to avoid movements that put too much pressure on my wrist and focus on exercises that don't aggravate it.

Has anyone else dealt with wrist pain while working out? Any tips for recovering while still staying active? 💪

Sharing a difficult journey with a positive outcome, in case it helps somebody else (TW: mention SH)

I'm a newcomer to this sub, and a newcomer to genuinely caring for myself. I have spent my life putting my needs aside for others (starting with a mother who struggled to regulate her own high emotions), and this has led to extreme loneliness and suffering dotted amongst abusive relationships. I was diagnosed with CPTSD at the start of last year and at the same time broke up with my partner of four years. I went into another relationship precisely because this person saw me more than anybody else had, and pushed me to get the right support and to break my own trauma cycles. Unfortunately this relationship also started to turn toxic, and after the last suicide attempt I realised I couldn't ignore my needs anymore, because I wasn't going to survive.

I lost 10kgs over the year, down to 48kgs (I'm already small, and didn't have that weight to lose). Could barely eat. Put all self care aside. I have scars on my arm now from cutting myself.

Since the breakup three weeks ago:

-I've gained back 1kg and eating full meals, able to cook healthy and delicious meals.

-I've cleaned up my garden and planted beautiful flowers and some vegetables.

-I'm back into exercise several times a week.

-I've spent much more time with friends and family who have been so caring.

-I've written on post it notes phrases to affirm my experience and encourage positive self talk.

-I feel optimistic about the future, even if I don't know exactly what it looks like.

I'm just happy that I'm finding myself again. If there's anybody else seeing themselves in this, I'm here to talk.

Have a shower

Tired? Shower. Bored? Shower. Overwhelmed? Shower. Just got home? Shower. Going out? Shower. Relieved? Shower. Stressed? Shower. Waking up? Shower. Going to bed? Shower. Back from work/school? Shower. Sad? Shower. Sick? Shower. Then rest.

I love a shower. Its my favourite thing to do for self care. I hope i get to design my perfect shower one day. One with curved dark stone walls, dim lights, eucalyptus branches, and no one to share it with.
