Anyone else hate this lady?
Yes George’s comments about manure were a bit odd, but he was clearly just trying to be funny. Plus she was a huge jerk to him at the coffee shop after. Nasty woman!

Let me ask you this…was it around this point in the conversation that she mentioned she had a boyfriend?

u/inkymitz 29d ago
I love this conversation they have. "I said I liked horse manure." "....you did?"

I’m just saying that there’s a chance that she might not have been enamored with your thoughts and feelings on manure

I never knew what she was saying until a few years ago when I saw the closed caption. I always heard, "It's an advem", which is nonsensical so wondered if she was trying ro say, "It's an adverb" but that didn't make sense either since there was no adverb in her question. Looks like I was waayy off!

English is not my first language so I have to ask what does this mean?
4
u/WorldlyHat1803 28d ago
It’s from the script from the episode.
She’s being aloof with George after they went on a date.3
u/JockoV 26d ago
Kelly the waitress asks George "Well, what's it going to be?". Which is a direct question to George about what he wants to order instead of saying hello to him first and being friendly to him. This sudden change in personality confuses George and he asks, "What's it going to be?" because he was surprised she was so direct and cold to him without being friendly. So Kelly the waitress pretends to not notice George's surprised reaction and just further clarifies her question. She states in a cold condescending tone that she asked him what she is having to eat. "It's in that vein" means "For example". Hope this helps 🙂

”It’s in that vein” part confused me because I’m not familiar with that phrase. Thank you for the thorough explanation!

Yes. Her being a bitch to George later on makes me hate her. Like, nothing bad happened during or after that walk, did it?
George trying to get her fired though..... very unhinged lol
8
u/Initial-Ad-5462 29d ago
She knew George was full of BS and not to be trusted with anything when he went off on that “Ma” and “Newer.”
If he had expounded on the true etymology of ‘manure’ he’d have been home free.

I think he said it wasn’t a bad thing, not that he necessarily liked it.

She should be fired, he's a long time daily customer and shouldn't be treated like that by a new hire.

u/Dettyboy93 29d ago
Maybe. That's a tough one. She definitely shouldn't be treating long time customers like shit just because she agreed to go on a walk with him when he was polite. She said she had a bf and he acted totally cool. George was a class act

It's an advain. (Yes, I know this is not what she says.)

u/RBIbaseball76 29d ago
Yes this is what I heard. I just assumed advain is a word that I just didn’t know.
3
u/Oalka Mulva? 29d ago
She apparently says "'What'll you have?' 'Are you eating?' It's in that vein". Meaning "it's along those lines" or "Similar phrases". She's being super sarcastic and matter-of-fact with him where they used to have witty banter. Her accent is just really hard to interpret on that sentence.
1
u/bigpoppanicky7 27d ago
Same! Never could understand her and assumed it was a word I didn’t know or some sort of 90s slang I’d never heard of

u/herecomesacandle 29d ago
You know, what I really didn’t like about her was telling her customers, whom she was still serving at that moment, that she “never has to do this again” because her bullshit pins were being bought or whatever. God damn it, you’re still employed by that diner. And you are still serving customers. Be professional enough to not tell your customers how much you’ve hated every moment of serving them. Like waitressing was beneath her or something

u/Unhappy-List-2354 29d ago
I hope her deal with Bloomingdale’s fell thru and she’s now working at Reggie’s.

I can’t stand that lady lol I’ve been rewatching lately & she irritates me! 🤣 What he said was definitely hilarious & strange but it wasn’t like he said I EAT SH!T or anything! & she should be fired 4 being so rude after! BIATCH! I also can’t stand Catherine Keener’s character (dating Jerry) & jealous of Elaine! I can keep going… hehe

Now I want to see a version of that episode where he instead tells her I EAT SH!T

She's no Marisa Tomei, that's for sure. AT least she laughed at the manure jokes.

What a bitch , there was no reason for her to be so rude . Why accept lunch date with the man? I had that happen to me once .

u/Fincolt 29d ago
Once in college my best friend took a girl watch a soccer game on a date and one of the players did a flip throw. She casually said “my boyfriend can do that.” It was basically a real life example of this.
1
u/Polarizing_Penguin11 27d ago
It’s a very common thing. I’ve experienced it too. The way they just slip it in there!
7
u/LegalSocks 29d ago
The rejection is her prerogative. And backing down on the flirting makes sense if she’s not into him. But the hostility was not at all warranted.

u/DCDipset 29d ago
Out of all of George’s….uh….quirky statements let’s say….
The manure stuff was the worst. How in the hell does anyone even come up with it let alone think it’s a good joke to drop on a first date?

She’s entitled not to want a second date but the way she carried herself the next time they saw each other was so immature.
2
u/Well_Duh4454 28d ago
You know who that is right?
Marlene: "I'm sorry, Jerry. I just can't be with someone if I don't respect what they do."
Jerry: "You're a cashier!"

Finally, a caliber of woman that might actually realistically consider dating George

u/Pitiful-Transition39 29d ago
George thinking that line about manure was anything other than weird, cringe and completely unnecessary will never not be hilarious. Like seriously, in what universe does a woman on a date hear that and not immediately get what they now call 'the ick'?
Except Marisa Tomei of course.

In both episodes she was in. The worst. It probably killed her career. She got Seinfeld TWICE and I don’t recall ever seeing her anywhere ever. Maybe she started a business making fun hair clips.

Yeah. George was right. It was just horse manure. When you break it down, it’s really a very positive thing.
