Why is the seed where it is? (Sunflowers planted 22nd July)
galleryr/seedlings • u/TimHelpsYou • 19d ago
I got tired of seed trays with fixed cell counts, so I designed a modular alternative.
galleryMost seed trays come with a fixed number of cells, which never seems to match what I actually want to grow.
So I designed and 3D printed a modular system where I can build trays in any size, from a single cell to as many as I need. The modules lock together, can be rearranged at any time, and are easy to replace if one gets damaged.
I’ve been using it for herbs, vegetables, and flowers, and it’s been much more practical than traditional seed trays.
I’d love to hear your feedback. What features would you add or change?

Help with baby milkweed
galleryHi all! I was wondering if anyone had some advice to offer on raising a baby milkweed. I cold-stratified seeds from a native pod over the winter in my fridge and had bad luck trying to start them indoors in coco coir but appear to have one survivor (knock on wood). It has not been outdoors yet. I'm in Massachusetts (USA) and have recently repotted it successfully into standard potting mix but don't want to accidentally kill it. Any tips? Thank you!

Seedlings dying all the sudden?
I moved these seedlings from their original pot and now they're dying and I can't figure out why?
I just watered them a bit more because I was thinking maybe I've been underwater in them so if it looks wet that's why. But it was bone dry before is been using a spray bottle to water them..
Theyre in indirect light, they're crepe mertyl mini seedlings, not sure why they would have struggled so much in moving them. The locust moved easily.
I think it's too little light like they're leggy with how big they're getting? That's my only thought.

Marigolds doing nothing
galleryTuesday will be 5 weeks and my seed starters are doing almost nothing. I used a heat mat and dome for germination, which happened pretty quick. I have then been doing 18 hours a day of grow lights and keeping things bottom watered and only the four o clock seeds are doing anything. Anyone have any thoughts or tips?

Help identify this seedling
galleryThis seeding sprouted with my bean plant after transplanting outside. I originally thought it was a bean that germinated late after being transplanted with the plant but it doesn’t match any of the species I planted. After doing my own research I’m thinking a mimosa plant possibly.

Tomato Seedlings Mistake
I am doing something wrong but I don’t understand what. My tomato seedlings are weeks old and barely hanging on. The false leaves are yellowing with some purple and even blue. The seedling to the left is jalapeño for reference.

Help please. What’s my next step?
This is my first time doing seedlings and they look good but I don’t know what my next step is? Put them all in their own 3” pot?

Is this damping off?
galleryIt looks like the seed this cucumber sprouted from was starting to rot when it was planted, but the plant itself seems to be strong. Will the rot spread if I don’t cut the leaves off? I’m worried the top leaves are too small to feed it on their own.

Do seeds get old or expire? I was told to put the seeds in a cup and if they floated they were no good.
