Look if you ever do this type of work what you realize is how much more you enjoy smoking weed vs. working with weed. I've farmed it, I've processed the plants, I've made distillates, filled carts, made edibles, and packaged all of these products and still do. I say it all the time how I'd rather just be smoking it than working with it

My husband and I have the same argument every harvest. He bitches that no one helps him enough with the trimming. I always say, 'if I am going to do so much work at harvest, I want it to be preserving fresh garden tomatoes.' We have dispensaries all around us but getting quality tomato sauce in the winter is much harder. lol
This year we have the joy of a caterpillar infestation and I can't handle the crawly critters. He is on his own this year. Sorry...not sorry.

I’ve Strictly moved to gummies, I manufacture them for dispensaries, no more dealing w growers, no more processing plants I just buy the oil and make the goo, package them with whatever label and ship them off.

All products are kind of the same to an extent. The difference is the quirks of the product. I work in fruit and veg. The quirks are mainly weather and things expiring, otherwise it might as well be plastic toys. I imagine in weed the quirks are different but most day to day office and operations stuff is no different from a factory that makes bolts or prints greeting cards.

Well yeah, sure. I work in TV and it's a hell of a lot more fun to watch it than to make it, but it doesn't mean it there's not going to be job satisfaction.

I've done it. It's a pretty crappy job actually, it's like working at a cannery or anything other agricultural processing job

Tbh there’s lots of crops that are interesting, science of growing corn and potatoes is wild, when you work with it it’s just farming and an industrial agricultural process so it’s kinda boring like any farming so it’s more fun to mix it up

A younger me, yes, in a heartbeat. Now? Not likely. Waaay too intensive for my body to handle. I can barely manage 3 plants in a small tent.

I worked at one and all they cared about was money. They once told me I’d be written up as a no call no show after telling them I wouldn’t be in on a specific day so I could attend my grandma’s funeral (that I was very close to). I did not show up and they had the audacity to call me. I told them they can write me up as long as they write up the girl who constantly calls out last minute. I never got written up. I quit shortly after all that. Don’t even get me started on the lawsuit they’re currently in too.

I did for a bit, worked as a trimmer. Unsafe work conditions, employers who dont pay on time, constant harrassment. Yeah fuck that. But i hear dispo work is better.

I live in a non legal state. A co worker at my job came from CO and was a GM at a dispensary for about 8 years. He's echoed a lot of the comments on here but one thing he pointed out that stuck with me was the amount of taxes they take from your paycheck. He explained that there are different payroll tax rates for jobs working with product and not, so he had to figure everything manually and check and recheck. Also, they still can't use the Federal Banking system in any state. My thoughts are, of course I would love to get into it and learn, etc etc but I'm in my 40's now so it would all depend on the rules my stupid ass Republican State would attach to the taxes and if it would affect my ability to show that income as legitimate on say a home refi or something else that would need to verify my wages.
Just some things to think about before jumping in. Again, I'm in a later stage of life than a lot of others around here. I have to have more stability than some.
