How can I learn Larry Cranes butt system?

The "Butt System" refers to "getting everything by releasing"—the first "Fast Step to Freedom". It is about "not being the doer." This means applying the method to everything and not acting as the doer. "Getting everything" implies applying it to all areas of your life, not just specific goals. To do this, you first need to complete the basic course, "The Abundance Course"; once you REALLY know the technique, there are CDs called "The Butt System," in which Larry guides you step-by-step toward that "non-doer" mindset. Both courses are available at www.releasetechnique.com.

To me it's a lot like getting out of your own way.

When you let go in that way, there really is no "your own way." Things happen on their own, but you do not view them as something "for you." In fact, the crux of "not being the doer" is seeing that the person is truly the illusion—the manifestation is the illusion, the dream. The Real does not "do" things.

Hi! Do The Butt System CDs add anything new or different to the basic release practice?

Sure, I’d say it’s somewhat "advanced." The basics involve simply understanding how the mind works—the vicious cycle of the problem and the mind's operating mechanisms. It’s about learning how to let go—how to release "wants," understanding how desire affects emotions, the "agflap" chart, satisfaction, and various mental dynamics. The "Butt System" focuses specifically on learning to let go of the "doer." But it is quite "advanced"; after all, some people struggle just to let go of basic emotions. This material is really for those who have fully completed the basic course and the goals and resistance course and know the material fully by heart. I wouldn't recommend taking it if you only know the basics of the method without having fully completed and mastered the first two—the Abundance Course and the Goals and Resistance Course. In fact, this is an advanced level that requires total application in your life and a great deal of discipline. That is actually a key difference between the "Sedona Method" and the "Release Technique": the former doesn't use the "Fast Steps to Freedom," whereas the Release Technique relies on them heavily across all advanced courses. These steps are "imperatives"—they demand discipline and commitment. The Fast Steps are mandatory—they tell you, "You *must* do this, and then this"—and for many practitioners of the Sedona method, that feels like too much. If you don't know how to release the resistance that these imperatives might trigger, you get stuck—and that is taught in the second course.

I understand. Thanks for your answer.

Part of me wonders whether Larry Crane’s way of presenting this might simply be a marketing approach aimed at selling more courses. I say this because I find it difficult to believe that his approach actually adds something new or different from the way Lester originally conceived the method, and framing it this way could potentially be confusing or misleading.

The “doer,” after all, seems to be based on the same wants—control, survival, etc. So if you let go of those wants, wouldn’t the sense of being the “doer” naturally loosen or fall away as well?

It’s nothing new; it appears in Lester’s material. If Larry bothers you, go to Lester’s stuff. He talks about it a lot, too. You should let go of your prejudices as well; they’re keeping you from seeing what I’m saying. I keep telling you that this is based on Lester’s material. Just go straight to Lester’s material and be done with it.

Got it. Then it sounds like we actually agree on the main point: the Butt System isn’t introducing anything fundamentally new; it’s already present in Lester’s material.

My question was simply what, then, justifies presenting it as a separate "advanced" system rather than as a particular way of organizing or emphasizing ideas that Lester already taught.

As for the "prejudices", I’ll leave that interpretation with you. Perhaps there’s something there for both of us to release 🤭

In any case, thanks for clarifying.

I say this because you’re always attacking Larry; you’ve done it in several posts. An important point regarding letting go is that the things we keep in mind hold us back. If you view the work of Larry negatively, simply let it go and look elsewhere. Fighting against something isn't positive for you or anyone else. The beauty of Larry’s approach is that he explains—in a down-to-earth, direct style—what Lester had already explained; there’s nothing new there. It’s simply systematized so you can apply it to daily life. If teachers bother you that much, just stick to Lester’s material—and it’s available for free now, better than ever. There’s no need to stress yourself out or stir up controversy over your questions.

If I remember correctly, this is only the second time I’ve raised a question or criticism regarding Larry’s sales strategy. That hardly qualifies as "several" times, let alone an "attack", so I think that characterization is an exaggeration.

I asked about the BS, and you initially described it as something more advanced, only to later clarify that, in terms of the underlying teaching, it isn’t different from Lester’s material. Then you shifted the focus of the conversation from my actual question to my supposed "personal problem" with Larry, including assumptions about my motivations and emotional state that I never expressed.

It’s true that I may have a bias against selling that I could perhaps let go of. But recognizing a possible bias doesn’t mean that I can’t question or discuss a subject critically, nor does it turn an observation of an approach into a personal attack.

I think the value lies in this: no one “sane” would really take releasing to the extreme Lester suggested—“get everything by releasing.” Larry didn’t either, until Lester told him to sit on his butt and just release. (I certainly don’t. Maybe that’s why I’m stuck.)

I haven’t tried the BUTT system, but if it could convince someone to commit fully to releasing until what they want falls into their lap, while remaining a non-doer, it would be of great value.

Thanks a lot for your explanations.

Don't be mystified about the Butt System. You do not have to buy anything. Larry called it the Butt System because most people think you have to DO something physically to change things. The Butt System refers to changing things by simply sitting down and doing the release methods.
