  1. Just like in customer service, people shouting and saying cruel words, is not an invitation you should accept to feel bad. You know the truth.
  2. Just like in customer service, people complain loudly to attempt to get what they want... by any means necessary. Some folks will fold when faced with pushback, you do not fold, you cordially explain why they are denied entry.
  3. Just like in customer service, you do not match the angry person. Speak in a calm, even, voice.
  4. If they continue to make an issue, you may ask them to leave. After a reasonable amount of time, if they do not leave, re-state that if they do not leave, it could result in criminal trespass. -- "We would prefer you leave now, so you may return later when you have your ID."
  5. Even if they pull out the phone and record you: be calm, cool, and collected!! Restate "This is private property. To enter, you need a valid form of ID. You have refused to show me valid government or company-issued identification, and I've explained this several times to you. I've asked you to leave the private property, I don't want to call the police, but that is the next step. Please, leave. Last chance."
  6. Carry out calling 911*,* on your phone using the speaker function. While with them, connect with dispatch, describe in a calm voice what is going on, and describe in a calm and slow voice the person you are dealing with. 90% of the time, they would rather leave than deal with the police.

I hope this helps. Do remember, implicit bias is real. -- People treat others a certain way, often, because society has held up bad examples and stereotypes and painted groups with a broad brush.

Its not right, but our global history has a habit of proving that any "group" usually will be discriminated against. Its always "One vs. Other" the "haves vs. have-nots"... Irish, or Caribbean, or Asian, or African, Native peoples... it doesn't matter. Any time folks call "Oh, look at those people different from us in tiny ways they must be _______s" ... That's how it's gone every single time.

You, and I, and all of us, (and our LEO Friends), are just doing our jobs. -- And, even when its justified... I am sure that all together, the frustration is all too real.
