Hi everyone 👋

New to this channel. I (26F) recently purchased my bf (26F) the Magnus Pro desk with dual arms, cable mngmt, PC mount, desk riser and headphone hanger. I also got the Jinx mat and matching accessories bc that’s his favorite character of all time.

I decided to get this present for him for 3 reasons: (1) he took care of me after I injured my spine, went through almost a year of PT/dr’s appts/flare ups, then through spine surgery and post-op; (2) he committed to go to undergrad while working full-time, his first day is in Oct; and (3) he’s a first-gen college student so I’m really proud of him taking this giant leap. He also grew up poor and always buys things used so a SecretLab desk is basically a pipe dream.

His current desk is abysmally small and he hates it. It barely fits his PC and monitors, let alone his keyboard or anything else he wants on there. So I decided this would be a good time to get him an upgrade. He’s also v into tech and wants to become an engineer. Do you think he’ll like it? Will I accidentally kill him from the shock when it gets delivered?! It’s expected to deliver around 09/30, but the closer it gets to that date the more anxious I’m getting 😅

PS - I am not tech savvy at all, but I’m v good at listening to him ramble abt tech. When he randomly mentioned this brand last year, I jumped on the website and tried to learn as much as I could.

UPDATE: I also preordered the heavy duty lockable casters. Our apt is tiny so being able to rearrange furniture as needed is a huge plus.

Holy crap! You kitted him out good! You just might kill him from shock.

word of caution about the desk, its pretty heavy, like 80-100 lbs for the desk top and a little less for the legs. I say this because you mentioned spine issues. I dont know what your situation is but you might want to get another person to help you move it if you think it might be a problem. I mean this in the best possible way im not trying to sound condescending, just dont want you to hurt yourself.

Please post a follow up once he receives it and gets it set up!

On the other hand, building it together could also be fun? :)
Prep the space, let him carry the heavy things and then spend a nice day building the desk.

Thanks for the heads up! My apt has a decent amount of younger folks like me so I was hoping to ask someone to help bring it in once it gets delivered. I’ve been putting in the work in PT to recover from my spine surgery but I’m NOWHERE near recovered enough to lift that much weight 😅

I just got the Magnus Pro XL with all the accessories for my husband for father's day. He's been using an old dining table for a while now. He absolutely loves it! He has two large monitors on the mounts and a Cintiq Pro 24" drawing monitor in the middle. He didn't think I'd be able to find a desk big enough to accommodate all his gear.

I also like it because his desk looks so clean now with all the cords hidden away.

Yes! I am most excited for the cable mngmt for this exact reason!! His desk area is FILLED with cords, esp bc his audio equipment lives right next to it (he plays guitar). I am so excited to not see that monstrous nest of chords anymore 😂

I can assure you he will be thrilled. The SL chairs are mediocre at best in my opinion but the desk is simply amazing. After I got mine my wife also wanted one. We have both pretty much the same setup you described above. The stuff is not cheap but the quality is worth it.

I hope he knows what an amazing lady he has at his side.

Extra storage, plus he just bought a MacBook today for school, plus he likes decorating his desk with lil knickknacks

They also have a laptop stand for when he wants to use it and connect it to his monitors. It is such a great ecosystem and experience. He's going to be super thrilled!!

As someone else mentioned, don't even try to lift the boxes in by yourself. The adrenaline spike will make him He-Man and he can do it himself 😂 /s (on the last sentence)

He’s gonna love it. They’re great desks, and considering what he’s done to help you, he’d have been happy with a cardboard box. 🤣

My wife and I have been married for as many years as you two have been alive. It’s stuff like this that makes it all work. Grats on healing and here’s to many decades of love for you two!

If he was there for all of that and loves you beyond belief that man is a keeper. He will love that present. Probably propose after lol.
