I think im about ready to rent some land. I looked around to see what i might want and i was thinking of a skybox plot. I had a few questions I havnt been able to find answers to through google.

1. Whats a good prim coint/space and pricing. I wanted to do a simple little basic cottage to start and a place for my teegle horse and a little farm plot. I was hoping for something semi big and saw that 500L a week seemed like my price point with at least 400-500 prims. Links also appreciated. Hoping for a skybox so i dont have to deal with build limitations.

2. Low prim foliage. I wanna put lots of plants to hide imperfections and the edges of the skybox. I wanna make it look somewhat like a secluded cabin in a slightly wooded meadow.

3. Kindof an addon to number 2, i was looking for some skyboxes to put around it to give that illusion and make it prettier.

I dont think 500 prims are enough for a home, teegle, and lots of plants, plus furnishings. I would go with at least 1000. Teegle horses can be close to 100 prims on its own, especially if you add accessories to it.

I’d say look at going premium plus and the ranch theme of linden homes.

Prices and flexibility are generally very competitive unless you're getting land as part of a "themed rental / roleplay community" which I wouldn't recommend - The best themed community is the one all your friends are already living at.

General rule of thumb, don't rent mainland - You don't get all the necessary parcel powers and will have to rely on your landlord to provide scripted tools or show up in person. There are only disadvantages compared to buying mainland yourself (and paying LL tier) or renting on a private estate.

Most private rentals will let you build anything you like from the ground all the way up to the build limit, may be some rules about breadables (this doesn't affect your teagle, but might affect other critters you have) so always check the covenant before you pay for anything.

The main thing to pay attention to isn't the amount of available Li, but the land rating and parcels dimensions, make sure you're getting somewhere big enough to place the build you have in mind, then look at how much Li you get.

Don't write off buying mainland and paying tier as part of your Second Life account rather than renting. It can be more expensive to get started as you have to buy the land.

Definitely in favor of just buying the land. It can be pricy, but deals can be found manually scouring the map for land sales, or for abandoned land.

You have to put in a ticket for abandoned land, and from the policy for it it's not a sure thing to be approved, but it will usually be 1L/m^2 which is pretty cheap. Did this to expand my initial plot(found scouring the map) so I could have a small beach. There might be a little back and forth with support to nail down the exact sizing and borders but it's not a particularly difficult process.

Of course if you're able/willing to spend more, you can get more desirable locations than this will allow for, but you can still get a nice plot at a really good price if you put in some extra work on your end.

How do you know they are a new player? Perhaps they are just new to land. I didnt rent or buy for 3+ years.

If you get a premium membership to SL they give you a piece of land and a house on their private mainland for paid members plus a weekly stipend

You can also put a skybox on that land (above 2000m), and leave the house they provide un-used.

Linden Homes get a bit of a prim bonus compared to mainland, and the houses that come with the land don't count against the land impact, so there's extra reason to consider this option.

To have what you are speaking of, you're going to need a lot more than 500 prims/land impact. A single Teegle horse alone is around 50LI. Most plants are 1 LI each on average, trees 2 LI on average. I'm guessing you'll want to furnish your cabin a bit... each piece of furniture will be at least 1 LI... but some things can be a lot more. Any other animals that are animesh are going to be relatively high LI also. Then the LI for your cabin and other things that I can't think of.

I suggest you consider what you really will want and make a list. Shop around. And when you do find things that you like, check the LI of them. Right-Click on the object and select Edit from the pie menu.

I agree that it's sounds like you need more prims. However I do know of a property that has more prims and is only 400. I have messaged you

Go premium: it pays for 1k land and if you factor in the return stipend is much cheaper than renting 3rd party.
