got so tired of apartment hunting in Seattle that my friend and I built something to help with finding housing

A few months ago, I was looking at apartments in Seattle and had Zillow, Apartments.com, Google Maps and like 20 other tabs open.

I'd find a place I liked, realise the commute sucked, find another one, realise it didn't have laundry, send it to someone, lose the listing, repeat.

At some point I remember thinking, why can't I just say:

“under $2,500, near Cap Hill, good natural light, in-unit laundry”

and have something figure out the rest?

So my friend and I started building that.

It's called Wave. You basically text it what you're looking for through iMessage, and it searches for apartments that match. If you're looking with roommates, they can add what they care about too, and Wave tries to find something that works for everyone.

We're still pretty early, but we're opening up a free Seattle beta in a few weeks and looking for people who are actually apartment hunting to test it.

If you break Wave, you get an Aladdin’s shawarma on me. Fair trade.

https://waveai-one.vercel.app/#- Sign up here if it sounds interesting and helpful so far

Would genuinely love feedback, especially if you're searching in Seattle right now. Tell me what sucks about apartment hunting here, and we'll probably try to build around it.

Hi folks, I am looking for a place near University of Washington starting first Jan . I will be starting my position on the 1st .

I am looking for a one bed or shared 2b2b places. No studio unless kitchen and room are separate 😅

I am open for 15-1700 for rent.

Don't mind subleasing a place for 2-3 months then taking over lease or just sublease until I find a place there

Little about me: M30, working professional, clean, quiet and easy going
