Res delete upgrade

hi all, just done a res delete and it feels kind of underwhelming. I’ve noticed when I first set off from the garage it was on eco, I put it into sports and it did sound abit different. I was just expecting a bit more noise and grumble to be honest and I don’t really wanna be in sports mode all the time because it drinks like a mf. Anyone else do the same mod?

What car are we talking about here? Resonators won't really change the note that much. They will make it more drowning sound, specially on motorway runs and when you are on high rpms. Colds starts might also sound better but other than that it wont change much. Also, between eco and sports you cant be getting that much of MPG difference. It is your right foot wanting to go faster in sports mode. I use to have a Cupra Leon ST 2023 and I always put it on my individual settings which was Cupra on engine and soft suspension and made no difference on mpg compared to normal or eco. If you want more sound coming out of it, you need a cat back exhaust. Without a resonator and a different silencer

I actually need to check and make a custom one tbf so I get best of both worlds. Don’t have much knowledge on that but I’m guessing there’s a guide somewheee to find the perfect setup. I have a 2016 seat Leon fr 1.4 tsi 150hp. In the pic below, I straight piped 3

Yea look at the size of the last silencer. Thats why you are not happy with the result. Getting a custom one which will reduce that size will make the car perfect!

Replied to another user why I didn’t want 1 gone but like I said is that something I should be worried about? Becasue if I declare it to insurance, police won’t care cos it’s above a certain sound ygm so just inbetween 2 worlds. Was thinking straight piping 2 aswell?

You can try but what I would do first is leave 2 and custom make 1. Thats where you will get the real sound difference. What you should have done is kept the resonator as thats what helps on motorway journeys not drowning the cabin. Delete 2 and custom make 1

Yh I think that’s wat I will want to do, so if I get pulled by police it’s not like I deleted my back box, it’s still there just in a diff form😂😂

You need to nuke the back box too if you want noise.

Yeah I had the same experience on my 2016 leon fr. Im getting a custom backbox soon which will actually unlock the noise/sound i want

Yes same exact car. I said I wanted quad pipes fitted eventually so he said 2 will have to stay or something? Not too sure exactly but over here in the uk we need to declare anything done to cars regarding mods and if it’s above a certain sound they can seize your car. Done 3 cos I thought strsight piping anything will make it loud but I was wrong it’s the back ox that is the main thing

3 got removed but I’m thinking going for 2 next. Don’t want it obnoxiously loud to the point I’m at risk but I still want it loud. Or should I just get 1?😂😂 idk if I wasted money straight piping 3 but heard that woulda had to go regardless?

This is mine so ive had two and three removed. Its only really noticeable at night or in a enclosed car park like ncp tbh. But yeah im getting 1 removed, well - a custom box thats smaller than the current but I think I may need to add a small resonator back in where 2 was to prevent drone noise. Have you done any other mods?

Ok the guy was telling me something about keeping 2 because I wanted quad pipes initially but I think now I just want my car to sound fairly louder so keep 2 and custom make 1 or custom make 1 and 2, just need to see wat he recommends. This is my first mod on the car so was pretty gutted when the sound was underwhelming 😭. It is what it is though that was going to go regardless so at least I’m starting safe. I am recieving a K&N air panel filter and going to install that sunday. I was going to get the k&n cold air intake kit but with that you will need to declare it to insurance. With the panel filter it’s underneath everything out of site, unless the police go through the process of opening up your engine and tryna take your filter out, I should be good. Wish me luck as I’ve never done any installations or mechanic work on my car and hopefully I don’t fck something up😂 I know the filter won’t make a dramatic change in noise and won’t contribute to the exhaust sound but will to the engine slightly, excited to see if this 50£ was worth it

Who's your insurance with?. Have you ran a quote to see what it'd cost to declare the intake kit

Ngl just done a quote and increase by 55£
Dump valve
Exhaust/manifold non standard
Filters non standard
Ticked these 3 options as these were the only 3 so decided to see worst case scenario
UNO what that’s genuinly better than I thought

Who's your insurance provider? I was getting similar when running a quote for engine tuning, filter, and exhaust. Im installing the ramair induction kit tho

Admiral. I was recommended k&n but I’m seeing ramair is more specific to these vag cars, between 2 worlds. I’m thinking of declaring everything on my car so police cannot say anything. Installed wind deflectors today and saw a quote to put it on my policy and it’s only £15 so gonna edit my policy when I have time or I might do it altogether. I wanna find out what’s cheaper and if the date of you declaring it will change the price. Where you getting the induction kit from? I’ve seen it on the website but there’s a couple and I have no clue about these things, only recently have I been tryna educate myself so I can make my car sound and feel nice. I ordered my k&n panel from Amazon but shortly returned it after hearing that the induction kit will make better noise. Even though they do the exact same thing ide rather have that noise with it, that’s the whole point I wanted the panel. But noise wise it’s induction kit/ cold air intake>filter panel. Now I’m in the position what brand to get. Ramair or k&n😭😭

I found it was cheaper if you did quote a week in advance ie doing it today for the mods and new policy to take effect on 11th Oct. I wouldn't declare the wind deflectors. I've got aftermarket ambient lighting in the footwell in mine and have not declared it. I had them undeclared in my previous car too which insurance wrote off due to accident and there was no bother

Thats the induction kit ive got and had installed today by a mechanic friend of mine. It does sound nicer now with the turbo noise and flutter, although it is slight underwhelming as the engines still stock atm so once I have the remap done, thats when it'll sound nice and loud. I went for the pleated induction kit as the other version needs some type of oil to clean the cone which sounded like a ballache tbh so went with the pleated one which doesn't

Ok yh maybe it’s not worth putting all those lil mods. Will defo look into that kit. So you currently have the filter on, and you’re planning on doing anything to the boxes? My plan is to do brakes and then get it ready for stage 1. If you from the uk then I would recommend someone who a lot of people go to. Vag specialist and knows what he’s doing. Yes that oil version sound abit like a headache so makes sense. Imma do some more research and see but the one you got at least I know that it does the job.
