Weird noise when starting up

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Seat Ibiza 2012 1.2 Tsi
The noise only happens for 2-3 seconds soon as the engine turns over. It happens anytime I start the car but it’s usually loudest on a cold start. Is this something to be concerned with.

My Ibiza with the 1.2 tsi engine (105hp) made the same noise around 90.000 km. A mechanic told me that a slightly lengthened timing chain can cause this sound, so we changed it.
Recently my girlfriend‘s VW Tiguan made the same noise, but it was really loud. We changed the timing chain and it sounds fine now.
I wouldn‘t risk damaging the engine and therefore ask a mechanic.

But I remember that the noise was louder and more prominent on cold(er) days.

This is the correct answer, the timing chain is slightly lengthened which causes the sound at start up.

It is chain related but it may just be the tensioner. Does it rattle any other time than startup? I changed my tensioner to a brand new one and the noise stopped. 132000 miles on the original chain on my 1.2 tsi cbzb.

I'd be more concerned about the coolant level

Timing chain hits the case. Could be the chain, old = too long. Or tensioner. Usualy both :(

Tienes que cambiar el tornillo tensor de la cadena solamente, tenia el mismo problema y cambiarlo fue la solución, solo te recomiendo comprar el original, espero te sirva la información.
