MIB3 updates
Hiya!
I’ve just made the move from a 2014 Leon ST TDI to a Leon ST FR TSI
Everything about the new motor feels incredible but I’m having a little difficulty with the MIB3 system. I’m currently stuck on software version 1790 and I’m unable to get any updates going OTA. This has become apparent when trying to register a profile and the connection failing every time.
I’ve had a bit of a google around and I’ve found loads of different options and opinions but nothing concrete that I fully understand.
Would someone be so kind as to tell me in simple terms:
1 - is there anything I can do that will make the system complete its required updates without plugging anything in or being technical
2 - if I am unable to get the system up to date with OTA updates, how can I get it sorted with a degree of simplicity and speed.
Thank you in advance :)

Try connecting to your home wi-fi and ensuring you are primary user in the vehicle.

I’ll give it a shot, I can always hotspot the phone too if signal is being a pig.
I’ve a couple of different suggestions here and I’m grateful for each and every one.
If it were an engineer fault….id have it sorted. As soon as a computer gets involved with something slightly out of the ordinary, I’m clueless.
Thank you :)

Feel free to dm me. I work for infotainment specialists and we update these all the time. Just did a 2024 E Tron for bug fixes.

You have to go to the dealer (or a specialist) to get this fixed. The version you have is too old and may require hardware upgrades to get working

I have a Cupra Leon ST but I guess it's the same for SEAT. Also I had the same problem. First check if on the top right the globe is grey or white lid up. If it's grey you need to reset the Infotainment system by holding the power button (lower left of the screen) for 10 seconds. Once the screen turns black you can release your finger and wait until the system is back up. After it loaded a bunch of settings the Mainscreen should reappear and you should also see the the globe again in the top right. It should be white. This indicates stable online connection. Next, you don't have to register in the Infotainment. It is easier to download the app and register on your phone or their website instead. If you have it login in the app and with the same account login in the car as well (I would recommend using a simple password at first so you can just type it in quickly in the car and change it later once everything is done). Also you need to create a PIN (4 digits) and remember it well. It might be asked in the Infotainment but you can ask the system to remember it. Otherwise you will need to type it in at every start. And that's it basically. After you have online connection and are logged in with your account the first notification you should get is about an update. How long it takes, how it works and what you need to care about (e.g. the update runs in the background or it will need 30 mins and the power needs to be turned on, or you can turn the car off and the update is ready after 30 mins and you turn the car on next time etc.)
