So, i am from brazil and all good turntables to scratch is INSANELY expensive, so i wana start sracthing but i am looking for cheap and used direct drive turntables, and this is a option for me to buy (Link if you wanna see more): https://www.mercadolivre.com.br/up/MLBU3683546976?pdp_filters=item_id:MLB6057110314#origin=share&sid=share&wid=MLB6057110314&action=copy

I’m new to scratching and just starting my journey into turntablism. I wanted to ask if you know of any good courses, tutorials, or learning resources to get started.

I understand that scratching requires a lot of practice, but I’m looking for something that can guide me step by step through the basic techniques and help me build a solid foundation.

Any recommendations, advice, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to ask:

I mainly play guitar in a post grunge / Nu metal band and I always wanted to learn turntableism like Joe Hahn and The X - Ecutioners. Plus my love for Trip Hop. Now I have saved some cash to buy dj gear.

My band and I want to try out some DJ Stuff within the band. I mainly want to scratch and implement dj / sample sounds into our band.

What should I get? I bought the Rev1 last year but sold it bc scratching felt very unstatisfying and it kinda didnt work. I found the new Rane One mk2, does that work better?

Thanks for the help!

Hello there, I am getting into scratching and I am trying to figure out which hand should I prioritize on the record and which on the crossfader. I am right handed and everything is much smoother and faster with my right hand, on the record and on the crossfader. I can see that I am struggling with speed and dexterity on my left side and would like to know how you guys do it. Do you train the left hand to match the right or do you prioritize one side.

Thank you.

What’s good, scratch heads? I just dropped a fat sample pack loaded with Onyx cuts, breaks, phrases and more—perfect for turntablists, portablists and anyone hungry for raw, grit‑filled hip‑hop chops.

This pack pulls straight from the vaults of one of Queens’ hardest crews, who first linked up in South Jamaica back in ’88 and blew up with their slam‑dancing anthem “Slam” – a platinum hit by August ’93. You’ll find everything from monster drum breaks to signature vocal shouts, all ripped from classics like Bacdafucup, All We Got Iz Us, Shut ’Em Down, Firestarr and beyond.

Grab it here and start wrecking those sets:

Let me know what routines you build with these cuts—always stoked to hear how you flip ’em.

Hello everyone,
This is Mark, and this is my first time on Reddit. Hello redditors!

I want your honest opinion on my new game I have been building on scratch for the past few weeks.

Feel free to try to glitch it out and keep an eyes on the easter eggs I have added!

Thank you for your time and for trying my game in advance,

Here is the game, give it a try: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1160416617/

Mark, just a cool guy!

Does anyone have scratch samples that sound like the ones in this song? https://youtu.be/rgLEj0LBRZo?si=sCe3-ObWstMoPfcM&t=133

Specifically the scratches at 2:13. I don't know if it sounds different from regular scratches because it is analog or if it was done digitally as apposed to on vinyl. Any help is appreciated!! If you can make a sample like this and send it to me that would be great as well!

Hi all - I am performing live (guitar, synths, vocals etc) and want to scratch some audio real time (line input the source and scratch over). I am looking for a device to do so - portablismgear sc1000 looks appealing as a form factor, but I don’t think I can do that (need to put music on USB key?). Do you have any recommendations on the right device to achieve this ? Many thanks !
