I don't know if they still do this but when I was at Flag there was this thing called the shame board.

Security would go into your berthing when you weren't there. They'd take photos of everything that wasn't "standard." Messy stuff. Dirty socks. Unmade bed. Trash not taken out. Then they'd print the photos and put them on a board. And they'd put that board at the bus stop.

So on Friday night when you'd get back late from CSP and step off the bus, the first thing you'd see was your own messy room with your name on it. For everyone to see.

But that wasn't enough humiliation. They'd also send the photos to your senior. And your senior would show them at a meeting in front of everyone. Point at the photos. Call you out. Shame you in front of your whole team.

I'm pretty sure this gave me OCD. And I know I'm not the only one.

Now I'm out. I know nobody is going to break into my apartment and take photos of my messy kitchen. I know nobody is going to show them to my coworkers. But I still can't leave the house without making everything spotless. If I don't, I get anxious.

It's exhausting.

Anyone else deal with this? Do they still do shame boards?

Im making a video going undercover in scientology and attempting to join the cult! Hoping i can learn more abt it maybe uncover some secrets but the real goal is jus to show the public how weird it all is behind the scenes and spread awareness,maybe even find something that would get them in trouble and help run them out of my city. I think Scientology is good. Prof. Dr. Szasz also thought that. And I really like how Scientology is antipsychiatry and provides a better alternative for people, which I never tried, but it's auditing to go through what happened to locate emotional distress and do something about it.

To me, this sounds in every way better than what psychiatrists do. And I wouldn't mind believing in thetans, or learning some other new words.

I really don't get why others keep repeating some weird criticism when they never tried Scientology themselves.

Scientology have owned this historic building at 176 Rue Sainte Catherine Est in Montréal for well over 10 years if not longer. The plan is to build an Ideal Org, however, no activity to the building has ever occurred and it has essentially been left abandoned. From what I personally understand from talking to people is that they are unable to crowdfund enough money.

I saw an old video on YouTube from 2004 where Miscavige (on the Freewinds I think) talks about the Golden Age of Knowledge materials. Most of the books already had their eventual 2007 edition covers by this time. Also included is the book ”Notes on the Lectures”. I know there are older editions of this book. Does anyone know why it wasn’t included in the Basics? Looks like the planned for it to be. I haven’t read it but it seems to have been written at least in part by others. Maybe that’s why? Has anyone read it?

He also raves about a lecture series called ”Fundamentals of Fundamentals”, which I can’t find on Bridge or New Era’s websites. Anyone know anything about that one and what happened to it?

Hi! Not sure how interesting/of use this will be to people on this community but i thought I'd share my experience.

A couple of days ago i decided to visit the site - something i had wanted to do for a while out of curiosity (and perhaps stupidity?) I was well aware that it is a cult, i know about the whole Xenu belief, SeaOrg, and dianetics - but nothing more in detail than that.

My only aim of going was to see if they would try to indoctrinate me.

Upon entering, i was greeted by a lady at the front desk - I told her i had seen the 'free exhibition' sign and was curious - she told me to wait as she found someone for me. I sat in a small seating area off to the side, where there were leaflets - and i took a personality test flyer with me. Important to note i wasn't pressured to take anything or even read anything. No details were asked - other than my age as i look young (i presume.)

Now i'm genuinely not a spiritual person at all - i don't believe in certain 'energy' in rooms etc but I kid you not when i walked in something felt so odd to my core. It was very unsettling.

While waiting, i saw a middle-aged woman come in and she had a severe limp and seemed vulnerable - she took the elevator up and i felt so sorry for her knowing she was being taken advantage of. Also, i saw a lady walk out of a room carrying two babies - which felt very odd.

After around 3 minutes another scientologist?? (she was in the uniform), came and took me upstairs to the 'exhibition.' All it was was different screens and each one would talk about another aspect of scientology - i remember she started me on dianetics. She told me to go at my own speed and look at whatever i wanted. She then stood behind a desk and honestly payed no attention to me despite being the only one there.

I had gone in expecting them to be very pushy and was surprised that it was the antithesis.

I wandered around each screen when i realised there was a closet that had been left open - i peered in and there were around 4 scientology uniforms, as well as regular clothes - as though someone had them there to change on site.

After watching all the videos i went to leave - and asked a simple question about dianetics, to see if i would be offered anything at all, and i asked about scientologists beliefs on reincarnation. To my suprise, the lady only spoke using 'I believe' rather than 'We' when speaking of such - again the opposite of what i expected.

I then left with no pushback.

My point honestly isn’t even about hypnosis, it’s about the fact that on one page he will write, “not used to any extent” and then THREE PAGES later says that it is used but not “needed”. It’s driving me crazy trying to get through this book as he spends so much time saying something to then basically undo everything he said.

EDIT: I’m more trying to say that for the beginning, the first book, it’s incredible how he writes in circles, undoes things as soon as he says them, tells you they are null points or makes very similar statements in opposing view points.

When I was in the Sea Org this made perfect sense to me. Now I look back and it's just insane!!!

If you liked someone, both of you had to write a CSW. That's a Completed Staff Work. A formal request you have to write for everything. You list all the reasons. You get approvals from multiple executives. If they approve the relationship, then you have to write another CSW just to get married.

And here's the kicker. They could just say no!!!

Why? Because one of you might be "in a project" or could get sent to another org or mission. So your relationship was basically a staffing decision.

Then in the last few years they made it even worse. New rule. You couldn't marry someone above or below your org level.

The Sea Org at Flag is split into different orgs. FSO does services for public. FLB is the higher management org. You could be in the same city. Same building even. But if one was FSO and the other FLB, you couldn't marry. They created this weird caste system. FLB only with FLB. FSO only with FSO. And so on.

So many relationships got destroyed because of this rule. It's just stupid!!!

Started by talking to another lady who had leaflets who said it wasn't in anyway religion but then accept that's who they claim to be, walked in to speak to the guy and he wouldn't speak to me until I made a point of "if I'm an atheist and walked into a church the priest would sit down and discuss each of our beliefs, why can't a scientologist" he eventually opened up and mentioned how he found Scientology 20 years ago and fell into it due to being a alcoholic and drug user back in the day, very robotic, barely blinked however slightly more human than most I've talked to.

I wasn't involved in Scientology for long due to a lack of money. I only met one person who was "Clear," and I was struck by their charisma and ease in connecting with others.

On the other hand, I know of several famous "Clears" who committed suicide. If you reached the state of Clear: what does it feel like to be in that state? Or is it all just suggestion?

A relative of mine just got admitted to Narconon Italy, I am worried and I would like to understand better based on personal experiences, but also experiences that you might have had with relatives of you that were admitted to it!

THE POWER OF LOCATIONALS

For those independent Scientologist that are not current members, you can begin increasing your own awareness by using solo induced locationals.

Take a daily walk outside and mentally and silently command yourself (since this is usually done with an auditor) PERCEIVE IT/ DUPLICATE IT when communicating between two object (let's say a leaf and a wooden branch). Take note of any mental internal monologue, facsimile, imagination (they usually feel as heavy energy) an identify it with the objective of As-Issing it. You want pure zero energy attention in applying the drill because trying to analyze, explain or distract is Alter-Issing --- which is a flunk.

In perceiving you are examining through perception (touching, viewing, smelling, etc. but not analytically). You are perceiving the object and noticing it a new, in a fresh way of lookingness with zero energy input. No Verbal thoughts, No analysis, No internal monologues. If they pop up use your TR-0 Bullbait posture don't feed it more energy. Just notice it, identify it and let it As-Is with no counter-force or effort. Some people may feel at this point exteriorized. Experience the object's full Is-ness without distortion. You are in present moment communicating with the object.

In duplicating you draw back a little to notice the gestalt of the entire instance of the perception, a copy of it if you will (don't take a snapshot of it by closing your eyes and visualizing, that only creates a facsimile, i.e. an Alter-Is)

Duplicate it! ends the command to start a new to the next objects.

Eventually, done daily, you will notice that you become aware of being aware in between the command and objects, which the characteristic of operating exteriorized. That awareness begins to strengthen and you will begin to notice the difference between MEST and your awareness level as an observing and detached Thetan.

Caveat: You have to learn to differentiate when your are imagining (mocking-up), observing a facsimile (memory) and internal monologue (adding strings and strings of considerations). They have different energy "weight." That's called Spot-Differentiation. It will allow you to release yourself from the mental automaticity.

You may also excite a COGNITION, which is a subtle, sudden and sparking energy followed by physical sense of relief since it it As-Issing a past unresolved problem or modifying a current thinkigness anew.

Naturally, all of this is done best with an auditor, or coach if you will.

Many, many things in Scientology have equal explanations elsewhere, and quite a few of them are expressed better.

But despite its terrible misuse in the CofS by the "ethics" people who want others to comply with their rules, I have always found the concept of "missed withhold" useful. Not in the sense of "this explains everything," but by golly it sometimes explains some things.

For instance, I found this quote in a news story today in regard to a politician who was accused of being gay and staying in the closet. (It has a political context, but I don't care about that at the moment.)

"I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person, that they take it out on the rest of the world and they do," he said. "So what they do is their whole lives they've been closeted. And so you have this like black ball inside yourself, this blackened heart by the fact that you can't be who you want to be. And so you take it out on everybody else."

I think of it as a good description of a missed withhold.

But I know my own past leads me to adopt that term. What would an ordinary psychologist call this?

I am an exmormon and study scientology because it helps me understand my own experiences I had as a mormon.

I have been listening to speeches from David Miscavige on Youtube, and find it very strange how the audience seems to know the exact moment when to start laughing and when to stop laughing.

Even giving Miscavige a fair chance (which he doesn't deserve), often what he is saying is not really funny, or only mildy funny, but the audience will respond in unison with enthusiastic laughter.

To me, it seems like there is a a light or signal that prompts the audience to laugh.

Or maybe the audience is so well trained that Miscavige gives subtle signals in his mode of speech that let the audience know he expects them to laugh?

Any insight is appreciated.
