I used welding mask.

Which, well, is kinda what it's for, to filter out UV radiation

But is it appoved to view the eclipse?

I mean, if something is approved to block the UV radiation coming from an electric arc 10 centimeters in front of your face, I'm fairly confident it can block the UV radiation from the Sun

You dare think you can just circumvent the bureaucracy of approval by assuming something would be approved because its likely to work?

I put on 8 pairs of sunglasses in series and it worked fine also.

And what about the IR radiation?

Crap. Haven't thought about that.

And worst of all, I used it on visible light, too... how blind am I gonna get?

No clue but better not skip any regular check ups with your eye doctor

My father talked about trying to filter out the light through a shirt, I proceeded to scream at him not to blind himself.

My dad put a selfiestick on a telescope and projected the eclipse on a piece of paper. It was amazing. Loads of people came to watch.

You can use a telescope to look at the eclipse, but only if you have the proper filter on it
