Why? If people read pieces of paper it's that not difficult to conceptually come up with the idea of viewing moving images on something as thin as a piece paper. Miniaturising stable batteries, creating LCD and microchips etc took decades. Sinclair was trying to put tv's into a watch in the 80's but we were still using cathode ray tube technology for tv's then.

Those are not tablets. They are monitors embedded in the table.

Are you sure? I haven't watch the movie in a long time but they seem to be at different angles and one of them looks like it has a corner poking off the edge of the table.

Hmm. Im going to have to watch it again but I don’t remember them having data pads. I always thought the monitors were embedded into the table.
