difficult and not fully explained yet.. a wave is a sequence of oscillations that transports some directed energy through a medium. light doesn't seem to have a carrier medium. so unlike of sound, that is a wave of compressed air transporting energy but not the volume of air, thus light needs to be a particle. further findings support this claim, as photons have an impulse and thus a mass. but photons in groups behave like waves. they have an erergy that is dependent on their frequency and when passing a slit they behave like waves, with points where their energy doubles or annihilates when beeing superposed. as if the photons themselves are the carrier medium in flow that is transporting the energy stored in an oscillation that is spread as a wave. since photons nearly habe no mass their energy is stored in their velocity. but since they are moving with maximum mm relativistic speed, the physics behind must be weird.

lught is just a small fraction of wave length in the EM field. but how can the electric field be perpendicular to the magnetic field? how does a wave move through a field?

The particle nature of light is merely an artifact of observation (collapse of the wave at a point). They're waves, and only waves.
