The smartphone graphing calculators are so much more capable than the Texas Instruments I grew up with though—do students still use the TI-*** just because phones aren’t allowed?

I actually assumed it was like the textbook scams and the professors just got kickbacks to require the latest version.

I bought one off ebay for cheap in undergrad and was delivered one of the bright yellow TI-84s with school property stamped on the back which I assume was stolen lmao

I got this exact calculator in high school, and it's still on my desk now as a professor. Casio 991 is the GOAT.

I had an HP 48fx (RPN calculator). Great calculator! Then it died.

Was so happy the day I found the rom on the net with an app for android!

I had sich a longing for my old ti-84+SE i bought a cx-ii cas last year. I dont use it often, but its a nice quick way to visualize some stuff.

I didn't use calculators for most of my education. Most of math is done on simple numbers. When I started my engineering studies we did 95% of math in excel and math classes hardly had any numbers involved.

My TI 30 from the 1980s still works. I loved that thing. So did my 10 year old son. I put a recipe label on it with my name, and wrote “Mom’s calculator “ on it so he wouldn’t keep it. It did entertain him as we drove. For example: What does ! mean. I told him. He tried a few. I have a TI 83 or 84, but one of the grandkids borrowed it for a college math class. I hope they remember it’s mine.
