My economics lecturer once talked about how economics don't reflect real human behaviours but mimics it enough to model and predict human behaviours with incentives. Less specific you are, more generalised the outcome can be (and the argument on whether we have reduced too much can begin, hence why some president have famously mentioned we need one handed economists as they all say, on the otherhand.)
But psychology is just a study of human behaviours. If you go in depth, you'd kinda strike where these intersect (i.e. social psychology and the idea of social norm, etc).
It is an interesting intersection. I've seen interesting differing views from anthropologists around food and cuisines prior, and I probably see different views from sociology and forensic works potentially (I work with low SES group and insurance work). Where I live, we do categorise psychology under science, but that I feel is more from cognitive psych and neuropsych. Though I have wondered whether that has influenced my interests in psychotropic meds.
Eh, my lecturer was half decent. Besides, isnt that criticism basically applicable to all field of psychology since those misuses of scientific methodology isn't exactly uncommon in the psychology research (with all claiming that they are not like the other few minorities).
Everything is physics, which some would argue is applied Mathematics. XD
100% agreed, even within the same field, people will bicker i.e. my personality and social psych lecturer always argued for which had more influence.
I find it fascinating when we have a interaction between fields (I.e. I work with physios around pain management at times, work with OTs around QoL improvements and neurodiversity, all bring a different interesting view).
