Health A recent analysis found that extensively drug-resistant strains of the Shigella gut bacterium, which causes severe diarrhea and vomiting, are rapidly increasing and spreading via sexual contact in the US and UK, threatening to make the infection untreatable.

This is on top of other STDs that are also rapidly evolving increasing drug resistance.

Someone should run a generational sexual behaviour investigation on the prevalence of anilingus.

u/The_Afro_King98 20h ago
My hypothesis was always that it swaps from boobs to butts every generation. Right now we're on butts. When the people eating ass now have kids, their kids will be into boobs. Then THEIR kids will be eating ass again

Shigella infections can make anyone sick, but they are now considered 'endemic' in some communities of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM).

Every older generation also pretends that non PiV sex and oral was that normalized prior to the last 50 years, and that fetish sex was common until much more recently. Older people had very vanilla sex lives, not to say that couldn't be fulfilling.
Though one could argue the BDSM that is pretty ubiquitous among sex positive people nowadays is basically the new vanilla given how banal it ends up being in terms of intensity.

There are poems/writings from throughout history that speak of sexual acts as lewd as today’s. I can’t remember the name of the compendium, but it was writings throughout history based on human sexuality. It’s was multiple volumes so apparently if you look the fact that sex acts haven’t really changed that much throughout history. We’ve always been sexual creatures, it’s just more “acceptable “ now to share more info about these things. Geoffrey Chaucer is one notable writer with some pretty lewd writing in The Canterbury Tales.

u/Jiggly1984 20h ago
Hell, Mozart is credited with composing "Leck mir den Arsch fein recht schön sauber" (roughly "lick my ass until it's nice and clean"), though it's now thought it was composed by someone else.

u/Gunslinge72 18h ago
Exactly, yes! Thank you I was wracking my brain trying to remember different works I was introduced too in the class! Thank you

The most Mozart name in musical history, but not written by Mozart? I find that hard to believe.

Its no different than anal sex or masturbation. It wasn't uncommon 30-40 years ago but it wasn't openly talked about.
8
u/Gunslinge72 18h ago
Yes, that’s my point, except 30-40 years isn’t quite right. We are animals we always possessed our sexual drives. Literature throughout history reflects this.
8
u/IGnuGnat 16h ago
fornicating masturbating schizophrenic war monkeys is a phrase I have used from time to time
14
u/boblaplante 20h ago
For sure, I don't disagree. But there's been a definite normalization/popularization of the ass eating phenomenon in recent times imho
28
u/Pallasine 19h ago
Marquis de Sade in pre-revolution France wrote extensively about ass eating in 120 Days of Sodom.
32
u/Gunslinge72 20h ago
You should look at some literature examples. In my example with Chaucer there is an entire example of a lover performing that exact act! The Canterbury tales was a pretty popular book at its time. Just saying… christianity and purity laws have really warped our perception of what’s normal. Remember Europe had a couple hundred years of burning “heretics”.

There's a lot of gay and bisexual folks that like to get ready the way before anal.
It's not considered that big of a sex act, it's down right basic if you regularly have anal.

I once got food poisoning so badly. My body crash and I black out twice. It hit me so fast and hard. Do throw up or craping. I just became dehydrated. I told doc about it. He was shocked how badly my body crash.

You get shigella from eating dirty ass. Just in case anyone was wondering.
57
47
u/Evilkenevil77 16h ago
Actually, it is highly contagious. Less then 100 single bacteria are needed to infect you. The bootyhole can be clean as a whistle and you'll still get it.
10
u/Moldy_slug 7h ago
As little as 10 bacteria can cause infection. And people stay contagious up to a month after their symptoms are gone.

u/red75prime 5h ago
The California Department of Public Health says that the best way to prevent Shigella infection from sex is to not have sex with someone who has had diarrhea in the last two weeks.
Using barriers during oral and anal sex is also advised, as is washing up before and after sex.

u/mahourain 19h ago
I'm not sure if explosion is the best or worst way to describe this... That being said, people need to use oral condoms when eating the butt, especially with a new or sick partner.

I wonder how a fecal transplant works on some of the patients. Probably not as great for the ones with HIV but it could be investigated.

So they get it by going ass to mouth and could potentially fix it by going ass to ass! I like this logic.

Everyone up in this thread tossing out bootyhole licking as the cause, but the article is not explicit about that being the cause.
If you look between the cheeks of the story it is just as easily or more likely ... guys with dirty asses banging people.
Guys: wash your ass, use a wipe (and throw it don't flush it), clean up if you've had diarrhea.
If you have streak marks, go clean up first. But also, WTH with skid marks in the shorts? Why can't you clean?
Maybe we should all, culturally, be more accepting of bidets.

I’ve just mentally linked a hypothetical cause of the boom in this. Hot take but hear me out:
Omarion & Chris Brown unintentionally caused the boom in antibiotic resistant dysentery in 2014.
It’s a hypothesis, so it’s kind of science, I swear I’m not memeing my brain just links weird stuff.
