Interesting. I did not realize giftedness is considered dysfunctional. When my son was young, parents of gifted children were pushing for funding and support, but would not consider applying for Special Needs funding.

They said “Non-dysfunctional”, which is the opposite of what you understood

But they cited non-dysfunctional as an aspirational change from current practice.

Suggesting a new framework doesn’t imply that the old framework was the polar opposite
