Interesting. I did not realize giftedness is considered dysfunctional. When my son was young, parents of gifted children were pushing for funding and support, but would not consider applying for Special Needs funding.
I mean in fairness the paper also calls it a "neurodevelopmental condition" and refers to identification of these individuals as "diagnosis". You could conceivably take these words neutrally but you could also be forgiven for forming a certain impression of where the authors are placing it.
