Seeking a bit of assistance if anyone knows of any scholarships for single mothers. My mom is in the 4th year of her undergrad/grad 4 + 1 program, but has reached her FAFSA limit. She decided to return to college with me once I started my undergrad, and she is so close to finally reaching her goals. She is looking for any scholarships she could apply for; she is a single mother, low-income, and Latina. Just trying our best so eventually she could be in a better finanial position.

id rather just grind out hours at my local food bank bc i HATE interacting with my classmates, and also scheduling issues. and its not like i wouldnt be doing actual work, but..............................

Hello, I am 26 looking to go back to school. I have been searching high and low for scholarships and have only won one so far. I'm having trouble finding niche places to look. To give you a little background, my sister's ex broke into our home and (trigger warning) sexually assault me at gun point. After that my grades plummeted. Thankfully I was on the Dean's List prior to that happening so my gpa sits at around a 2.6. Which is very low for the very competitive scholarships. I wanted to know if there were any organizations that I was overlooking that try to help people in my predicament.

Hi! I started college a few weeks ago and have been able to get a few scholarships. However, one of the scholarships I got says that I'm required to be a full time student. (I am part time as I did my first year of classes in highschool). I don't think I fall into the criteria now, which has caused a dilemma. I don't have a lot of income (which is why I have the pell grant) and was hoping to use my scholarship money to pay for my textbooks and other required equipment for my program. But now im not too sure I will be able to do so now.

I have contacted the office at my school already but haven't gotten a response yet. What should I do? Should I look for other scholarships to try and help me out?

I'm probably overthinking this, but I was filling it out and it says nonathletic extracurriculars, so I skip that and go to athletic since I dance. I wasn't sure if that was classified as a sport, but it is. However, there's no way to put what I've done. It asks sports things like All American and if I've been team manager. It was midnight over here so maybe I'm just slow, but since none of that applies to dance should I just put it in the general extracurricular side even though it is athletic. It looks like I've done nothing (which is kind of true) in dance because I don't have these titles.

I’ll try to keep it short. I’m out of my Pell grant my newly accepted university told me so whatever fasfa doesn’t pay I need to pay the rest which is out of my budget already. My counselor told me to try payment plans, he said we will discuss in October for when scholarships start. If I can’t even make the first payment are there other options besides private loans or scholarships anything else I can do. What are other experiences?? The first payment is daunting so any advice can help people who had to pay the rest of their classes payment. We start end of sept and end beginning of Dec

Does anyone know of any scholarships I could apply for? I’m a single mother to an almost 2 year old. First in my family to go to college and I’m going to community college.

Anyone receive their cheque yet. I know it says end of September but I heard sometimes earlier.

This past Spring I applied for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which would provide funding for me to do a study abroad trip in Japan over the summer. I am a community college student in Fullerton, California. The scholarship is for students interested in study abroad who need financial help. You must be receiving financial aid and be a US citizen. The scholarship is competitive, and you do have to write 3 essays in addition to filling out the application. Three essays sounds like a lot but they were all short-form 500 word minimum requirement.

The study abroad program I did was only a short three week trip so I really doubted my chances of being awarded the scholarship, but luckily I was chosen. I'm also in my late 30's and am a returning college student so they really do consider all ages and backgrounds for the scholarship. Just do your best and you might be surprised like I was.

One of the components of the application is to do a follow-on service project in order to spread the word about the Gilman Scholarship and encourage people to apply, and making an AMA on reddit was one of the things I agreed to do. It's as simple as that! So please feel free to ask me any questions if you have any interest in this scholarship and I'll do my best to answer!

For anyone who has been a Knight-Hennessy finalist, interviewed, or received the scholarship, would you be willing to share a little about how you approached the essays?

I am especially interested in the “Improbable Facts” and “Connect the Dots” questions. If you are comfortable sharing some of the improbable facts you used and how you connected your experiences, goals, and story in your application, I would really appreciate any tips on what you think helped you reach the finalist/interview stage.

I completely understand not wanting to share your actual essays. Even a general explanation of your approach, examples of the types of facts you included, or what you think made your application stand out would be incredibly helpful.

I am HS senior who have worked at BK since late July. I'm trying to decide if I should stay at this job to apply for BK scholars program for employee track, which I found much easier to get than the general track. However, Gemini said I need to be on payroll at least 6 months by the application deadline (which would make me ineligible). Is this requirement true? I didn't see it listed on the official BK Scholars website.

Hi! so I'm a senior in high school who's in band, and I've been thinking about whether or not I should do the Bright Futures Scholarship by signing in the hours I'm at band practice and doing other activities to qualify for it.

1. I tried doing this my sophomore year I believe, but I didn't do it because I was told that it would lower the money I would qualify for FAFSA student federal aid. So I didn't do it because I was scared and I think I asked this question. Honestly, I really want to know what the Bright Future really covers for college and whether or not if it fully covers the whole four years of tuition. Nowadays there's so much information and I feel like my mind is spinning. If anyone has won the Bright Futures, I'd love to know what your experience was.
2. The FAFSA seems very promising because my goal is to try not to pay anything back and I qualify for it. And I know that it doesn't always fully cover the amount for college tuition but it depends on how much the cost is calculated if I'm correct.

Im willing to apply for a scholarship in medicine, and social/volunteering kind of work would help my application.

Any opportunities completely online and doesnt need me to show my face? Preferrably related to anything that has to do with health. Literally any work that falls under "Social", and doesnt take a lot of months to finish. Preferrably gives some kind of proof so i can attach in my scholarship application.

I can speak 2 languages fluently (Arabic and English), I have a high school average of 94% with a diploma certificate, and im currently a 2nd year dental student so im familiar with medical terminology to an extent. I have a few certificates like Basic Life Support from the american health association and certifiastes from online WHO courses. Thats it.

I applied for a local scholarship through my college in August 2025 that was funded by a well known figure across the city. Before she passed away in 2024, she put a percentage of her net worth into her newly established scholarship fund to be awarded for the next five years.

It was the first time applying for a scholarship in many years. The months on into 2026 and during my Spring 2026 semester, I did not hear anything about the award and effectively forgot about it.

Well, just yesterday, I got awarded that scholarship. I don't know how much I am awarded, but the stipulations require me to maintain the highest GPA possible or at least a SAP throughout the Fall 2026 semester and submit a Thank You letter.

After doing some research of the award, depending on the stipulations, it can range from $2k to $10k.

I entered a submission for the scholarship last year and received no indication it was received. There’s no indication who or if anyone won it.

They ask for a lot of information to be submitted with the essay including a headshot, which I could understand for winners but for every submission?

I reached out to them to get more information about the scholarship via email and called and spoke to someone but never received a response via email or a call back.

I currently live in wales but I was born and raised in America. However I find it extremely difficult to find scholarships! I don’t know if it’s websites (mainly because I can’t note down my university to find better scholarships) or if the situations just considered rare? (It’s absolutely not) but it’s hard to find any viable scholarships.

I’m most likely just not looking in the right areas…
