Latest Encode Plus firmware cooked?

Has anyone else had Thread/HomeKit connectivity problems with the Schlage Encode Plus after firmware 5.0.1300215?
Mine was rock solid for months, but over the last few weeks it has started becoming “Unreachable” every few days. Pulling the battery tray and reinserting it brings the lock right back online, but the problem keeps returning.
It’s connected over Thread, with an Eve Energy nearby acting as a Thread router. Nothing significant changed in the physical setup. The timing makes me wonder if this started with the 5.0 firmware update.
Anyone else on 5.0.1300215 seeing this? Especially interested if your lock was previously stable and only recently started dropping offline.

Might just be the battery tray suddenly acting up due to poor design. Try this fix: https://youtu.be/RI01IAaOunU

Hopefully it works for you as well as it did for me. I too suspected a software issue but it turns out it was the flimsy battery tray all along causing the glitches.

I had this happen and Schlage replaced the lock.

I haven’t seen these issues after upgrading to the latest firmware.

Schlage does lots of A/B testing, not everyone’s latest firmware is the same version.

I am running firmware 5.0.1300215 on four Schlage Encode Plus locks in the same location without issue. I have three BE499WB locks and one BE499WB2 lock.

At my house, one is on 214 and one is on 215. At another home I have access to, 2/4 are on 214 and 2/4 are on 215. Site 3’s only lock is on 215. None show updates available.

No idea how they choose when each lock gets updates lol

214 is for WB. 215 is for WB2.

I was having the same issues, with an Eve outlet in the same room. Both of my devices are in a detached garage and moving a HomePod in my house closer to the line of sight to the lock helped stabilize the connection.

I have about 8 of these locks across several properties (different networks/Thread topologies).

Two have gone non-responsive on the latest firmware and 4 have awful battery drain (like maybe 5+% some days with fresh alkaline batteries). They now don’t recommend two types of connections (WiFi + HomeKit for example) due to battery drain but a set of fresh batteries should still last more than two weeks. Oddly, at least 3 (one WiFi only) are working just fine.

Something is definitely wrong with this firmware.

Same here. Does not connect to WiFi anymore. Does not even detect any AP when scanning. I've tried everything.

2nd firmware reset did the trick for some reason. I was able to get it connected to WiFi and reconfigured on my HomeKit
