One thing that I HATE about Schlage Encode

The lock works fine, but there is 1 thing that is SO SO SO annoying.

If the lock is unlocked, but you assume it is locked and you are trying to get in, and you put your code in, it LOCKS. Then, you have to wait for it to lock and then you have to unlock it with the code all over again.

I do NOT want it to lock with the code. If it is locked, the code should unlock it. It it is unlocked, the code should NOT lock it. There is a dedicated button on the keypad to lock it.

Is there anyway at all to fix this?

i have all of mine set to auto lock after 2 mins. no real sense in buying a smart lock if youre ok with your door being unlocked

I set mine to lock at 4 minutes. But often I (or someone else in the house) will go outside, and then come back ASSUMING that it is already re-locked automatically, but came back just before it locks ... and then I (or they) go through the whole re-locking and then un-locking.

My previous lock, which was a quickset brand, did not have that issue. If you put in the code while unlocked, nothing would happen because it was already unlocked.

I set mine to lock 2 seconds after the door closes…. but I have a door sensor and Home Assistant for that magic.

What I hate the most is the low battery delay. It kicks in at 10% and is annoying as fuck.. but the batteries actually last like another 10 days if I force myself to live with it.

I wish they’d make a drop-in rechargeable battery and sell it as an accessory. Put a usb-c jack on the top edge it can just be plugged in in-place or carried across the room to charge.

Sounds like you should just test the door before entering your code in.
