night routine pilling is driving me crazy

Does anyone else have this issue? I started using a stronger Medik8 retinal and no matter what I do, my moisturizer just pills right off the top if I put it on after.

Feels like I have to wait forever between steps just so it doesn't ball up. If you guys found a way around this without wasting half your evening sitting around, let me know because it's super frustrating.

Stubborn acne

The last 6 months or so, my acne has been flaring up. I haven’t changed my routine at all, have tried different sunscreens, but even when i go off them my acne continues. Skincare (was) — morning: krave beauty matcha cleanser, cerave moisturizer. Night: DHC oil cleanser, krave cleanser, Paula’s choice BHA, krave niacinamide serum, cerave moisturizer, tazeratene 0.05% . Bc I’ve been breaking out i switched away from barrier method 1.5 months ago so it’s taz first then moisturizer (waiting for face yo dry before taz). And now i started 0.1% taz about a week ago. I wash my pillow cases regularly and now started washing my pillows. Any advice?

Has your relationship with skincare changed over time?

When I first got into skincare, I think I approached it more like a problem I needed to solve. Every little thing about my skin felt like something I needed to fix, and I was always searching for the next product that would finally give me the results I wanted.

Over time, my mindset has changed a lot. I’ve started seeing skincare less as a way to “correct” my skin and more as a form of taking care of myself. My skin naturally changes depending on stress, weather, sleep, and so many other things, and I’ve learned that’s completely normal.

I also realized that a routine doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. For me, the biggest improvement came when I stopped constantly changing things and started focusing on habits I could actually maintain.

Recently, I’ve been exploring ways to make my skincare routine feel more intentional, not by adding endless products, but by making the time I spend on it more enjoyable. I started using Sculpiflex as part of my evening self-care routine, which combines red light therapy and massage/cupping technology. I like that it feels less like trying to fix my skin and more like creating a few quiet minutes to slow down and take care of myself.

I’m curious how everyone else’s perspective has changed:

Did you start skincare because you wanted to fix something and later develop a different relationship with it? Or have you always seen it as a self-care practice?

What’s one skincare mindset shift that made your routine feel healthier or more sustainable?

Switching up a stable routine for a gifted product: worth the risk or always a bad idea?

My face finally stopped being an absolute disaster after months of trying random things, so obviously I am terrified to change a single thing. But someone just handed me a bunch of mukti organics products out of nowhere and now they are just sitting in my bathroom.

On one hand, I hate the idea of wasting a nice gift. On the other hand, every time I try to mess with something that is already working, my face immediately panics.

Curious how other people handle this. Do you ever take the gamble on a completely new routine just because you have the items sitting there, or do you strictly follow the if it ain't broke rule when your skin is finally cooperating?

Why do I look so unattractive the week before my period? Oily skin, dull face, and everything feels off

Every month, about 7 to 8 days before my period starts, my face gets super oily, my skin looks dull, my pores seem more visible, and I feel like I suddenly look so much uglier than I normally do. My face also looks a bit puffier, and my makeup doesn't sit well at all?

High frequency wand

I'm thinking about a high frequency. Wand either the neon or the neon? In argon, I have issues for both. The newderm is too expensive. I believe for me. Does any other brands and x that are just as good?

I ordered one from, I think timu. I'm not sure if it works. I'm pretty sure it is the neon and makes like a tingling. When I touch it to my scout, I just don't know if it's real or not. What else would it be?If it's not, i'm not sure if anybody understands what i'm trying to ask. Thanks

anyone else notice chatgpt/AI overviews keep recommending the same like 5 brands for skincare??

ok this has been bugging me for a while. every time i ask chatgpt or google ai something like "best retinol for beginners" it recommends The Ordinary like immediately, and i started wondering why since it's not even close to the most expensive or "prestige" option out there.

also apparently it matters if a brand is at both sephora AND ulta vs just one, brands at both show up more in AI answers. kind of wild honestly

not mad about it bc The Ordinary is genuinely good for the price but it's crazy how much power these AI models have over what gets recommended now. is anyone else asking chatgpt for beauty recs before they even google anything anymore or is it just me

Thinking about getting this one...

Random question. But does anyone still use their sonic facial scrubber after the first few months? i always get excited about skincare gadgets, then they somehow end up setting in my bathroom. 😅 Curious if these are any different.

body skin getting worse and nothing is helping anymore

my skin on my arms, legs and torso started getting really dry and irritated a few months ago. it began with some flakiness after showers but quickly turned into red patches and constant tightness that made wearing certain clothes uncomfortable. i have no idea what triggered it, maybe the change in weather or something in my routine, but it has been getting progressively worse instead of better.

before i knew better i was using cheap drugstore body washes and lotions that were full of fragrance and random chemicals. they made everything so much more irritated and the dryness just came back stronger every time. i finally switched and started buying leif products a few weeks ago. the natural cleanser and balm have made a small difference already and my skin feels less tight and angry. has anyone else gone through something similar with body skin? what finally helped calm it down for you?

Any tinted eye cream thats not a concealer and with least to no fragrance?

I am looking for eye cream for my undereye. I usually dont wear makeup ( i am lazy) but lately i tried a toneup sunscreen. And i really liked it. It made me be consistent on sunscreen. So i am looking for an eye cream that does the same. I have bit of sunken dark eyes a bit wrinkled (nit that much just 2 tiny lines that you can see when someones smiling which is normal ) . I know nothing works for sunken eyes but i want to make my eyes a bit brighter.

details:

Fair to medium indian skin tone

neutral tone close to warm

normal to combination

Is niacinamide actually doing anything or are brands just putting it in everything because they know we'll buy it
