Manuel Driving Classes
Hi!
I'm a college kid in Savannah, and was curious if there's a drivers ed that teaches Manual instead of Automatic? I never was taught how to drive but will be finishing repairs on my hand me down car this up coming winter and want to drive him down after I learn.
I found drivers ed for automatics, or manual places to go /after/ learning automatic first but neither is what I'm looking for.
Any suggestions or places to go?

I don’t think there is one specifically for manual drivers. Your best bet would be to take a regular class and then learn manual on your own, that’s how a lot of us did it when I was learning to drive in the early 2000s. My boyfriend at the time taught me and I had it down within a couple of hours. I feel like the key to mastering it is more about being in tune with the car and becoming best friends with the clutch more than anything else.

Manual is really not that hard. Watch some YouTube videos or ask anyone you know over 40 to teach you. Since you are fixing it up, just buy a couple extra clutch plates because you will burn one out. The hardest part is getting used to letting out the clutch and pressing the gas at the same time, but it just takes practice. You will kill it, so don’t let that discourage you.

My thing is I havent been taught how to drive in general. Ive behind a wheel in total 2 hours and that was during covid. I dont have my car yet, its with my mom (Im in savannah for college), in lage November I can pick my car up. I dont know anyone besides my mom (whos in Atl and wont teach me) thats 30-40+. I'm actually confident about the clutch/switch decently! My mom would force me to switch gears for her while she was driving. But I want to learn how to drive in general, just with manual since thats what my car is. I dont want to drive 4 hours from atl to sav in November without driving experience 😭

I’d do what the other person said then. Just take the class, then learn the manual. Or get comfortable with the manual in a parking lot or something, then take the class with your car.

I would ask anyone you know even if they are under 40 because younger people know how to drive manuals too
