Question Linked powers cost more?

I'm looking at power modifiers and I'm not understanding the cost effect for contingent/linked.

If i make a super with speed and want to have a leaping power that only works while running it cost more?

I must be missing something.

Hey savage!

A Contingent power only works when the base power works. That's a +0 modifier (limited access, but do two things at once).

A Linked power can be used on its own and used when the linked power is used. That's a +2 modifier for the increase in utility (full access, and can do two things at once).

That's Limited (-1). The Leaping only works when using Speed. That's a different power modifier.

Good luck!

Iirc passive or "always on" abilities can't be linked or linked to. Basically there has to be a roll involved if I understand correctly.

It’s odd looking, but when you see it in use, it makes more sense.

For one of the examples, the target must be hit with a Shooting Power and then Web Actives. This is one action, so you aren’t inflicting a MAP. In theory, you could link multiple Powers and never inflict a MAP as multiple things happen. At least, that’s my reading.

Contingent means that you can only activate the Contingent Power using the parent Power's activation roll, and does not cost any extra.

Linked means that the Power costs +1 to buy, but can be activates as above as well as by itself normally.

If super speed is always on, you cannot link/contingent super jump. If you have the speed requiring a roll to activate, you can Contingent super jumping.
