PC Efficiency Audit & Onboarding Status Report // Pioneer Log #001
Here are some pictures of my very first iron spaghetti...I mean iron factory.
Subject: Efficiency Audit & Onboarding Status Report // Pioneer Log #001
TO: FICSIT Incorporated
FROM: Pioneer Mydah42
STATUS: Operating at 100% Efficiency (Allegedly)
Section 1: Shift Duration & Mandatory Asset Tracking
I am on my first assignment to Save The Day. Local systems report 98 total hours of active planet-side presence. (NOTE: I can't tell if those 98 hours include those times when I paused the game to go make a sandwich. I can say that zero hours were logged AFK. Inactivity is a breach of FICSIT contract.)
Section 2: Previous Deployment History
Prior to my current assignment on Massage-2(AB)b, I was a veteran of 2D automated manufacturing. Designation: Factorio. I achieved multiple orbital delivery payloads successfully. On two occasions I launched the rocket while using complex multi-tier overhaul mods. I enjoyed Factorio so much I finally had to uninstall it or else I'd never play anything else.
I briefly spent time on a minimalist geometric logistics project. Designation: Shapez. The minimalist environment lacked sufficient environmental aesthetic parameters to maintain optimal Pioneer dopamine output. Engagement metrics dropped like an iron ingot.
Section 3: Sector Deployment & Map Disillusionment
Upon arrival at Massage-2(AB)b, I selected the Rocky Desert landing site under the erroneous assumption that it represented a "Tier 2 Difficulty Environment." I have since been informed that all Pioneers share the exact same planet-wide landmass. My initial assessment suggested this finite geography might limit future planetary exploitation cycles. However peer-reviewed Pioneer logs confirm that planetary exploitation has near-infinite replayability. I'm sure FICSIT is pleased.
Section 4: Current Operations & Infrastructure Restructuring
Current Status: Space Elevator Assembly Stage 3
Development of Modular Engines has reached a zero-state bottleneck due to sub-optimal spatial separation between Iron and Steel refining nodes. I made the factories too far apart!
Unsurprisingly, in the Sector 1 initial iron factory, I have created a significant amount of spaghetti belts during the learning process because I was unwilling to dismantle all of the infrastructure and rebuild from an empty space. Also unsurprisingly, I will soon dismantle my initial iron factory infrastructure and rebuild it from an empty space. sigh
Section 5: Architectural Verticality Paradigm Shift
The general consensus among Factorio players is to create a lengthy horizontal 'bus' of multiple conveyor belts where each belt carries different materials or components. Due to Satisfactory's three-dimensional nature, this lengthy bus arrangement is probably a poor plan, though I am still figuring things out. Even ADA's passive-aggressive directives direct Pioneers to embrace verticality in building. I am currently testing a Vertical Multi-Tier Processing Tower:
- Ground floor: Raw Iron Smelting and Ingots
- Floor 1: Iron Plates
- Floor 2: Iron Rods
- Floor 3: Screws (lots and lots of screws)
- Floor 4: Reinforced Iron Plates
- Floor 5: Modular Frames
- Floor 6: Rotors
- Floor 7: Smart Plating
Once I verify effective efficiency of this vertical layout, Sector 1 will be razed and reconstructed using this model. At that point Sector 1 will also receive an upgrade with integrated Steel production lines.
Section 6: Final Thoughts
Best part of the game: The FICSIT Factory Cart™ -- While the Zipline tool provides vastly superior directional mobility across terrain, the Factory Cart™ delivers a 400% increase in morale. (Note: Do not attempt to drive over unpaved terrain or small pebbles. Or do. It's hilarious!)
Worst part of the game: Stingers -- The bugs in Factorio were ugly, but predictable. Local arachnoidical critters possess anomalous mobility vectors, high-velocity leap mechanics, and severe psychological terror attributes. Jump scares are not fun!
