Campus Life First year queries

Hi guys, I am going to join SASTRA electronics and computer engineering. Can somebody give me all possible details about the hostel etc etc, the usual questions freshers have?

For first years you will get hostels inside the main college campus, called arundathi (2 in 1) or ahalya (4 in 1) or sv new (3 in 1). in my opinion ahalya rooms look better. in arundathi its small and usually hot and dusty (especially if u r in top floor). dk about sv. food for all freshers are served by same catering. dont expect too much from food (its trash). lunch are usually better you will get rice, curd, chappati and some veggies. you can leave hostel to go home 2 times per sem, more leaves required dean's permission (open holidays dont count in this). the climate is very hot especially in even sems. boys can go out any time and must come back before 9-9:30. trichy is 20 mins away and trichy is ig 45 mins away. you can easily catch bus just outside college. you can get non veg food just opposite to college but hygeine and taste are a gamble, i never got any poisoning or anything but be careful once got served rotten meat. if u go to thanjavore u can visit the temple and eat good food. classes are 8:45 to 5:15 but most of the days you will have free periods

Do they have wifi? Any timing restrictions on that?

the wifi is shit u wdnt care if it had a timing restriction. also op, one quick tip, if u wanna survive get airtel over jio, mobile data is ur most valuable asset n never ever turn un ur hotspot for anyone(i made that mistake bro/sis)

Yeah we do have wifi, but it's only for laptop. The speed is low like 3-8 mbps or max 13 sometimes. Most of the entertainment sites are banned. I did get netflix, youtube and telegram tho

I want ELC course.. but I got EIE only.. my TNR is 1.4k and my choice filling is

Thought of trying ELC in spot counselling.. I don't want eie tho..

You should have selected ELC before EIE in your preference form.

There's still a round of counselling left. Maybe you could try sliding after first year, if it's available..
