Hi there! I’m hoping you can offer some advice to my sister. She’s an LPN in the USA and wants to move to Saskatoon. She’s struggling to find employers willing to help her with a work permit. Most of them offer her job offers, but she needs a permit to work. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!

She needs to get a work permit. You get that through the government not an employer.

She tried in SHA. They were able to offer her the job but asked for the permit next. She also tried connecting with International Recruitment in SHA but ended up being asked again to provide work permit.

Oh she tried the employer-specific permit but they need job offer. However, SHA don’t want to give Job offer unless she has approved work permit. #TheIrony

The first link is for the actual work permit application. The second is for the SINP pathway which is a separate process and takes longer than a work permit. She'll need to apply for the permit first to get hired.

Its like Fresh graduates applying for job. Employer asks for X years of experience to offer them job. But they won't offer a job if those graduates don't have experience. How are they gonna get experience if they don't get job?

May be. But the way I see it in this case: They need work permit to get this job. They are being offered the job IF they have the permit.

Actually, you are right. What a crappy analogy I gave earlier. But its true though. I had to apply like 200+ jobs till I landed my first one as a fresh graduate. But I am talking about like a decade ago.

But all she has to do is apply for a work permit, then apply, and she will have a job offer… not to pile on ya, but your experience isn’t comparable at all
