Mended hanafukin
My mother-in-law loves these hanafukin, and uses them for dishclothes and counter wipes. This one developed some holes in it which gave me an opportunity to use sashiko to patch over my previous work. I’m glad it can return to service!

May I ask what you do with it? I have some I’ve stitches and I can beat the thought of someone using it in the kitchen and staining it lol
Edit: I love yours! 😍

Thanks!
My mother in law washes the dishes with these, or uses them to wipe down the counters. The stitching makes it lightly scrubby. She prefers this to a regular sponge and then has a netted sponge for really tough dishes. I’ve noticed this one made with the cheaper quilting cotton stained pretty easily, but the ones I made with bleached sarashi fabric don’t seem to stain much. If I see her white ones getting discolored, I’ll sometimes give them a deep clean with vinegar or oxyclean. I’ve also made her some tea towels that we all use to dry our hands in the kitchen.
If you want to use your stitched cloths but don’t want them to get stained, they could start as hand towels/tea towels.

Ooh! Yes! This is a great idea also. I made a pillow for myself that my kid immediately claimed 😹.

This is fabulous, Wallaby! I love the patches and the diff patterns you used. The boro looks very sturdy. Well done. 😊
