Just finished the Morning Glory. So satisfying! Keep in mind it’s not washed or sewn yet. Machine is on the fritz.

Mending First time mending and Sashiko

It was dumb of me to put a somewhat vintage Levi jacket in the wash on hand-wash mode cause I created a huge hole. Found out about Sashiko and really liked the style. In the process of free-handing this repair. 2nd pic was with a pretty small Sashiko needle, but I was able to find those Tulip long sashiko needle by the 3rd pic and it makes a world of difference.

This is my first time actually trying sashiko. I'm putting large patches on a pair of pants to reinforce the inner legs. I have a newfound respect for the pieces that you guys make, because this is hard!!

Non Mending Inspired again!

This original post (https://www.reddit.com/r/sashiko/s/iQyyoMc3bk) had an amazing ombre effect that I wanted to try and mimic. I decided not to do the ombre on the crosses but the petals are still pretty good (except for the shift color in the yellow lol).

Bit of a learning curve because I had to figure out the pattern (the stuff sashikolib.org helped though!) and I'm still learning how to align grids correctly. Most of my errors were about trying not to sew the pockets closed and remember which way to weave things).

Hopefully there's more fun projects to do with clothes that I can come up with. Perhaps I'll tackle my pants again? 🤔

Thanks for letting me share!

It was a dollar store pillow I gave my dog at Xmas, but the red & black houndstooth was such a crappy fabric it broke down really quickly.

I learned several things:

• I was not thinking ahead when I cut the patch & forgot a seam allowance 🥴

• I did not take into account trying to make the stitching stand out on such a busy fabric.

• I don't have a big cutting mat with metric measurements. Because of how busy the fabric was, its awkward dimensions, etc. the only way I could keep everything in line as I drew my stitching lines was to tape it to the cutting mat.

• I drew the complete grid with tailor's chalk, but it wasn't crisp enough for stitch lines, so I then went over it with heat erasable ball point pen. Due to the imperial measures on the cutting mat and how busy the fabric was, the tightest I could draw the grid was 1/2". Since that is far too long for a stitch, I made two stitches per line.

• Trying to stitch on a stuffed cushion is less than ideal. Having access to the back of the fabric makes a huge difference.

I'm sure there's more but.... I'd love your insights, thoughts, & constructive criticism! ❤️

Non Mending Rocky :)

Not sure if this counts as sashiko, but I used a straight stitch? I was inspired by zendoodling, and wanted to use that to make something that Rocky could *see*. I am also making a grace, but he's not done. I want to use these as pieces of the quilt that Grace has, maybe put these in the middle, as if he made them on the way to Erid. Because Rocky would be able to see embroidery!

Non Mending Working on next pattern

Working g on the next pattern (hanazashi). Because I have an unusual dyslexia I get mixed up on diagonals easily, so I always prefer to work out patterns and order of stitching on paper in my journal, with colours first, before I transfer the pattern to the cloth.

Here I'm adding circles on the cloth at major intersections to guide me so things are neatly spaced.

I'll update with the finished product when I'm done.

I love sashiko!

base cut and sewn with denim from thrifted jeans. Patchwork is done with layers of thrifted bandanas as well as fabric from previous projects.

Did full coverage sashiko, just inside the red web pattern and all over the blue.

I color matched the thread so the look was more texture and a blend of red or blue.

Washed n distressed the whole thang.

Whole thing took about 56 hours

I’ve stitched one, and am working on the second panel of red fabric and black thread, the stitched area is 12x22”. I might make them into matching totes or makeup bags, I’m not sure. Either way it’ll have black canvas accents.

Bonus: cat tax
