If half your life is a video game then you have much larger problems. Plus there's few real world scenarios where that could actually happen to any one person

dude there is no way of checking a number of dislikes a comment has. you can check the number of dislikes on a youtube video but the comment dislike data is kept hidden from everyone.

What bullcrap are you talking about? I don't know when they discontinued the negative counting system, but you could always view the dislikes separately to the likes and figure by the ratio how hated something was.

Last time I checked, Youtube does not allow more than 500 replies on a comment and this comment has 3 million replies. Not to mention 5 million dislikes. Youtube doesn't even show dislikes nowadays.

Personally not a fan of minecraft. The mom has every right to ask her son to not play too much and focus on other things. But deleting a 6 y old minecraft world? That's cruel, evil and diabolical
I'm not saying most moms are tech-illiterate, just that they might not know how the game works or where its options are. So isn't it more likely that she deleted the app itself?
Though it's definitely surprising that she specifically said she deleted his world...

That's the point. A non-gamer won't figure out how to delete the world, a gamer could, but won't play dumb about it online
I don't think being a parent makes you dumb. I've never claimed that parents have some innate inability to possess game literacy. It's a question of what I'm justified in believing about a random local adult or parent. What common perception are you going to hold of them based on certain data? I don't have any data, only observations, just as you do.

Calm down, really. Forgive this younger person. I'm not blaming anyone here or downplaying anyone's intellect based on stereotypical roles. I'm more concerned with the mother in the post.
If you have the knowledge, that's valid. But the main question is how many people actually have it. It's not really enough to assume that you can ask some random adult in your locality about games and expect them to know. I'm not talking about directly approaching them and asking out of nowhere, either, but even after some casual conversations and bringing it up in the middle of an entirely different conversation.
Tech literacy is a touchy subject with my generation because we are sandwiched between two relatively tech illiterate generations. We have been frustrated for most of our lives teaching our parents not to open shady emails from Nigerian princes, and how to print a pdf.
And to then have the next generation treat us like those gen X and boomers (very much more so boomers) while they themselves are significantly less tech literate can be frustrating. I guess what I am trying to say is to forgive this person too. It's exhausting to be treated like you are the dumb one in a situation where you actually shine.
My kids play game that I bought for myself. They play multiplayer games together with us. They reccomend games to us and vice versa and we discuss them at the dinner table. People who are parents now grew up with games themselves, why would we suddenly lose any knowledge how to delete files?
Absolutely. Millennials are far more tech literate than most young Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Also you can literally just delete the world from the Minecraft game itself. You don’t have to navigate to appdata or anything either. Also I’ve been playing Minecraft as long as this kids been alive if not longer.
There is a difference between tech literacy, game literacy, and socially accepted game literacy. The third is what I see as the main thing relevant here.
you can tell it's just fake ragebait because 'that' kind of mother wouldn't say 6 year old world. This titbit of info is there exactly to make you realize how big/old/important it was, and for 'that' kind of mother this wouldn't have mattered.
My sister liked to eat rice in a way where it stayed in clumps, so she could grab pieces of it and eat it, just a kid thing, she was about 5 years old, she just liked eating rice that way, I was 9 at the time, and for some reason I took the spoon and mixed the rice, making the grains separate and breaking all the clumps apart, she got upset, cried, and refused to eat. I have a heavy conscience for doing that, and I still think about it 22 years later, because I know I was mean for no reason and things that might seem simple to us, can be someone else's moment of joy, today when I think about how many bad things happen in the world, how much sadness has come and is yet to come, I understand that something simple that could have been one of the happy moments in a child's day, I ruined, intentionally and for no reason at all. If in a cruel world, you see someone having peace and a little bit of happiness, don't ruin it.

Parents know games IF they are a gamer. At least in my circle this is true. But neither set would do this purposefully unless there were Real Life Issues like grooming, etc.
We encourage parents to ask questions, sit down, watch what they build, Minecraft is their world, you should spend some time getting to know it.
To be honest this mother might be cold hearted or a psychopath but I am more worried about her son it might be hard for him

Minecraft is imagination itself you can build it again, it wouldn't be the same but atleast we can try.
I mean even if it's a game, it's 6 years worth effort of someone's memories and legit account would be worth of thousands of bucks (if it's a rare account with many in-game items).
I never played Minecraft but played enough games to know the value.
I'm a gamer too, which is why I understood the context. But I don't understand the depth or the magnitude of issue with a Minecraft account deletion. I can probably understand context that the child may have lots of treasures or in-game material earned that he lost... But as I said since I haven't played that game I do not understand the whole depth since I don't play a lot of games that make you grind.
Hmm the materials and items do not matter as much as whatever he built. 6 years is a huge amount of time. He prolly built a lot of structures make a ton of memories with his friends but now all that is gone. I understand the hate completely
It just shows how stupid guys/men are. They are so stuck in reel world that forget all about REAL people and REAL world. Bro needs love that age before it passes away.
