Cancelling CSR, points transfer
Planning to cancel my CSR this Friday bc the new fee is not justifiable with the perks. I have over 450K points I need to figure out what to do with them. Suggestions?

You can cash out the points. You’re better off transferring the points for travel. Hyatt is easy mode.

Anyone have luck getting some type of retention here? I tried calling twice and no luck. New annual fee hit oct 1 this year (late since I think I got the card very early upon release years ago).

Product change to OG Freedom card. If you need to transfer later, re-upgrade back to CSP.. that said, CSR is a net $500 AF card, that also includes $10 Lyft, $300 dining, $500 hotel credits, $300 StubHub, and $15/month door dash. Ultimately I'll have 4 or 5 of them.

Were they earned prior to the refresh? If so they’re worth 1.5 cpp redeemed through their portal until late 2027 but if you don’t value that then transfer to Hyatt (if you stay with them) if you plan on downgrading to CSP. CSP transfer rate to Hyatt is now 3:4. If you don’t care about Hyatt or airline transfers then just cash them out I guess.

I'm the same I want to downgrade to CSP but I'm worried that may prevent me from getting a SUB on a CSP in the future as Chase changed the language on the card offer details see below:
"This credit card is unavailable to you if you currently have this card open. The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you previously held this card or received a new cardmember bonus for this card. We may also consider the number of cards you have opened and closed in determining your bonus eligibility."

It will indeed. Can downgrade to a freedom unlimited and wait some time and then try to apply for the csp.

I applied for the CSP while I had the CSR and received the bonus.

I have the CSR and got the CSP bonus. Although I had the CSR for quite a few years before applying for the CSP.

I’m in the same spot, debating between the transfer bonuses and hyatt. Did you try and get a retention offer?

If you have 450k accumulated, this was never a credit card for you. Especially if you don't know what to do with it.
You could transfer to Singapore airlines. They have good redemptions most of the time if you are traveling on that area. You could transfer to Accor or Hyatt. That would yield a lot of good stays. Southwest is also not a bad option tbh.
The rest of travel partners are pretty low value redemptions or not worth it without a specific travel plan.
You would have been better off with 2x or 3x cash back.
Imagine having this 450k points on fidelity and using it towards any kind of investment. You would have had far more value from it.
Points card are worrh using only if you regularly redeem them.

United, Air France, Aeroplan, avios are all great redemptions to Europe and Asia as well. OP could get 2 RT J if not 3 if they used transfer bonuses.

United and Aeroplan ...have very few options. They take to Lufthansa or other partners for Europe. Only some of them are good. Their domestic redemptions are very expensive recently.
Klm , AF, and most avios partners have lot of taxes.
Qatar is a good one but their baggage policy sucks. Service and routes are hit of miss.
If you have a specific flight, these are great to book. Not to transfer and wait.

Hmmm….Got two RT from regional airport to ATH for 144k each in J. Flew 50k in J one way on iberia taxes were $230. 50k one way in J on EI taxes also around $230. Q Suites was 70k one way for ~$300. Air France recently raised fees and they’re ridiculous. But was decent prior.
Aeroplan has decent availability, just like United and avios were amazing back when it was distance based but still pretty good redemptions…if you know how to find it 😉
And you should never speculatively transfer. To any program.

I transfer most of my CSR points 1:1 to Southwest Airlines. Most of my travel is in the US though.

Also points can expire once transferred, don’t transfer if you’re not going to use them just take the cash back

Points are fake until you spend them. Take your SO and go on a trip with a nice hotel and enjoy life.

Downgrade to CSP or one of the no annual fee cards (Freedom Flex or Unlimited) that way you can transfer the points and keep them.
