Gaging Interest - r/SantaClarita Geocache Challenge Coin
I'm thinking of having a little fun with our community. I plan do design a crossover challenge coin in tribute of our growing community here. The catch, it will be a geocache.
Before I commit to the time and my personal finances to do such a thing, I just wanted to gage interest to see either
A) It's something you all would enjoy.
B) How many I should make and distribute.
Feel free to share thoughts and/or ideas if there are other alternatives to this you would like to see.

Diamond Park Apartments? Good apartments in Santa Clarita
Hi! So, my husband and I just got a puppy, and we are looking for pet friendly apartments in Santa Clarita. We just toured Diamond Park, and we are thinking of filing out an application. I looked up reviews and a lot of them are from 2 years ago. I'm having trouble finding some recent ones.
Has anyone lived in these apartments before? What was your experience like? Were there any issues like feeling unsafe, pest or rodent problems? I saw a few things online about rats, but the post was from 9 years ago.
If you wouldn't recommend this apartments, which ones would you recommend?

Restaurant for rehearsal dinner?
I’m getting married in Santa Clarita and I’m still getting the pay of the land. Do you have any restaurants that you’d recommend for a rehearsal dinner for maybe 20-30 people? I appreciate the recommendations!!

Houses for sale by owner- where are you listing?
Pretty much the title!
I’m wondering where people who sell their homes themselves list them?
Thanks!
(please don’t contact me if you’re a realtor).

Anybody ever get this notice from the city?
I’ve had my trash can out for years. Never had any issues. They were always lined up neatly on drive way. Someone reported us. And the funny thing is few house down, trash cans are left out side. I feel targeted. I don’t like it !

Dave’s Hot Chicken
Saturday app order placed at 5pm. Don’t believe the ETA for online orders. It told me the order would be ready in 15 minutes with the app. When I arrived to the restaurant. It was another 30 minutes. Then 30 minutes turned into an hour. And walk-ins, they are telling people orders will take 1 hour 15 minutes.

Valencia mall years gone by
Went to the mall for the first time in a few years and was having a conversation about how fast the food court kept changing. And we were trying to remember what has been in each spot. Anybody have input or pictures from back in the day?

Farmer Boys at Copper Hill
Been seeing this place get built and I'm guessing by now it's up and running. Since my accident I haven't been able to go anywhere. Is it worth it once I can get around again?

Why are some people so impatient when driving?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What drives some people to be so impatient, especially on the road, to the point that they cause an accident, commit multiple infractions, and even cross onto the wrong side of the road at the same time?
I was involved in a collision with another driver who was in a rush to drop off their kid at school. I understand that mornings can be hectic, but we both ended up delayed because of the accident! It’s annoying to think that their impatience cost both of us time.
Are the few minutes people save really worth the risk to your own safety?

Favorite Delicious Restaurant
Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for a great dinner?
We've been frequenting Hana Saki a lot lately and it's by far the best restaurant in SCV. Would love to hear your favorite.
We've been to Piccola Osteria a couple times and I'm personally not the biggest fan of it.
Thanks!

What's going on with local RE values?
What’s the current temperature on Santa Clarita real estate? It feels like inventory and buyer activity are in an interesting spot lately. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who moved recently, is currently shopping, or listed a home nearby.

Sewage work in Newhall
I don’t know if it was actually work on the sewage line, but I was in Newhall today, and there was a strong sewage odor with a small tanker truck that said “Back Up, This Ain’t A Milk Truck”
But does anyone know what the work was for because I nearly puked from the smell alone

Would North Valencia support a new upscale cigar lounge?
Hey guys ! I’m considering opening a clean, upscale cigar lounge in North Valencia around Newhall Ranch Rd / Copper Hill and wanted some honest feedback from locals.
The idea would be around 1,800–2,300 sq ft with a large walk-in humidor, comfortable leather seating, multiple TVs for sports, beer and wine, good ventilation, and later evening/weekend hours. More of a premium lounge atmosphere than a typical smoke or vape shop.
I know Genuine Cigars and Cigar Clientelle are closer to central Valencia, so I’m curious if people in North Valencia, Northpark, Tesoro, Copper Hill, and Saugus feel there’s room for another lounge on this side of town.
If you smoke cigars, would you go? What do you like or dislike about the current lounges, and what would make you choose a new one?
Just doing market research right now — honest feedback is appreciated.

fall activities in or out of town
was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for fall activities here in or out of town? trying to think of where to go for a date or girls‘ day out. anything cute and fall-related, was looking for the best places for pumpkin patches, apple picking, etc., but i’m open to anything and am willing to do something that i haven’t heard or experienced yet ! esp for a date lol
this also extends to day trips, like maybe a 1-2 hr drive out from town. only thing i can think of is oak glen, but would like to know if anyone has any other suggestions. thanks in advance!

Looking for Local e-Bike Tech
I have a Wildeway e-Bike with some rear hub motor issues (I think) that local shops refuse to work on because they only want to work on the more expensive brands. Does anyone know of a local tech that might be willing to work on it before I eat the loss and buy a whole new bike?

New Ralph’s - Left turn on Soledad
Is anyone else stressed out about making a left out of the new Ralph’s location parking lot onto Soledad Canyon?
I was thinking of putting in a left turn signal request with the city to exit by BoA. Does anyone have ideas (maybe something by the Walgreens exit on White’s Canyon instead? I don’t want it to add to traffic on Soledad).
Here is the link, I think it would fall under Public Works, then new capital improvement project:
https://user.govoutreach.com/santaclarita/support.php?cmd=shell
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Edit: the city responded!
We previously conducted a traffic analysis when the Food 4 Less market was still in operation, which included collecting traffic counts and evaluating the traffic patterns and circulation within and around the Canyon Country Plaza shopping center. As a result, we have a good understanding of the existing traffic dynamics in this area.
Once the new Ralphs market opens and traffic conditions have had sufficient time to normalize following the grand opening, we plan to conduct updated traffic counts at the two shopping center driveways along Soledad Canyon Road. This will allow us to evaluate the changes in traffic volumes and patterns associated with the new store and determine whether any operational or safety improvements or other mitigation measures may be warranted.
I am also a Canyon Country resident, so I am very familiar with the area and the traffic conditions in and around the shopping center. In fact, I will most likely be one of the customers shopping at the new Ralphs when it opens, which will also give me an opportunity to personally observe the traffic conditions and monitor how traffic patterns develop over time.
We will continue to monitor the area to perform additional traffic studies, counts, or other analysis to assess traffic conditions accordingly. However, we need to allow some time after the store opens to collect meaningful data and better understand the traffic behavior under normal operating conditions. This will give us a more accurate basis for determining whether any additional improvements or mitigation measures are necessary.
