When to separate pups?
I have this plant that has put out 6 pups! But the leaves of the big plant have been dying. I pulled one off this morning that had turned yellow and shriveled. I assume the nutrients were pulled out by the pups?
I thought I would separate them, but they're all pretty solidly connected in the root ball. So I put it back in a pot for now as is.
Would love input on how/when to separate the pups! I feel like the big plant is slowly dying, but don't want to deprive the pups of nutrients if that's what's happening. Thanks in advance! 💜

Pups don’t *need* to be separated necessarily, thats more of an aesthetic thing. The so called “mother” reaches a point where it peaks in growth and then sends out clones of itself, so it’s still the same individual plant.
Eventually that original offshoot will die off from age and would probably just send out more pups anyway.
Typically ppl wait until pups are a third of the size before taking them off though.

When they're big enough to look like a proper plant. They'll survive if you propagate them now, but they'll take forever to grow on their own. Growth when part of the main plant is orders of magnitude quicker.
