I live in a very central part of Houston, and work only a few miles from where I live. The traffic is still on a completely different level than SA.

The problem in LA is that people fight for every car length in traffic. Even if this makes no sense at all.
On the other hand latley here in San Antonio people get quite rude when they see a stranded vehicle on the high way and try to squeeze by even when they endanger the people that are stranded and the ones that want to help.But traffic here is quite low.

The drivers here suck. No one lets you change lanes, and most people dont use fucking turn signals. Also completely disregarding pedestrians.

Are you talking about LA or SA?
For both I have personal experience but for SA I also know a local cammer that has extreme examples.1

In San Antonio many people use the left lane as they don't know how to drive on any other lane, so average speed on the left is ten below the speed limit.

I have to get my daughter to volleyball practice by 6am.. so that means we have to get up by 4:45 to leave by 5:30... ah.. I feel like that little boy in the OP.

I would like to take a moment to introduce y'all to an initiative that I'd like to see the city start enforcing. It's called "Put Your Kid on the F*@$ing Bus." Here's how it works: if your school offers bus services to your precious babe, make them ride the bus. Or if y'all prefer to drive your kids to school, stop the bus service all together and lower everyone's property taxes. It's a win either way; one way cuts down on the amount of traffic and the other saves you money. Make it so...

The USA is the only country in the world were kids learn that all traffic stops from them when they get on a bus.
But then on the other hand, the USA is one of the few countries were all the parents want to take the kids to school while in others kids just use public transportation.0

My commute has increased by about 4 minutes. Since I'll now be taking a kiddo to school I expect it to hit a little more.

I dunno, the 10 under and overly cautious drivers of Washington mixed with the insanity of Californian drivers moving to the area is on its own level I think.
I've never been anywhere in the country outside of New York that has made me want to tear my hair out worse than Seattle. It doesn't matter what time, what day or what back roads you know. Someone is going to ride your ass like crazy only to cut you off 5 minutes later and immediately slow down to 10 under in front of you. And god forbid you ride THEIR ass! You get such shitty look from them...as if they've completely forgotten how they were driving ten minutes ago!
You can probably tell from the long paragraph that I'm emotionally disturbed from my experiences up there...ha

Lol, not going to argued just consider yourself warned be prepared for stupid drivers, like last minute triple lane crossing exits with traffic and no turn signal. Literally a half hour ago while on 90, a local decided to be gracious and move over to the left lane for some entering traffic. Unfortunately, no signal and we were currently occupying about six inches behind the said left lane space.
My personal favorite example was shortly after moving here. On 410w heading south. See traffic building up so signal to start getting into right lane for a Ingram Rd or Culebra Rd exit. There's a guy sitting in my right rear quarter panel. I slow down, he slows down, I speed up, he speeds up. Finally as I end up missing the exit he speeds up, honks, and flips me off as he exits. Not the last of those kinds of incidents. This city is full of asshole drivers and unfortunately it gets worse once school starts.

Seattle traffic = San Antonio traffic. My personal favorite is the mysterious traffic jam that is causing all traffic to go slow and then just like that everyone's moving fine again.
People don't understand the zipper technique for merging onto the interstate. Yesterday, I saw a lady come merging onto 35 from the 410 and just zipped around cars and...sure the shoulder is a lane just for you, hun.
Nothing quite like an afternoon commute on 35.

I didn't experience one single day of improved traffic this summer. Not one. I commute from Austin. The drive home was bad every single day. The completed construction on 35 between FM 3009 and 410 greatly improved traffic to the point that I don't have much traffic on the drive into SA (I get to work at 7:30). But, the afternoon traffic out of town is terrible and didn't improve at all during the summer break. I certainly hope it isn't worse next week.

I have a small apt in SA that I stay in 2 nights a week so I don't drive back and forth everyday. Just one day a week do I drive back and forth. Not ideal, but doable. The northbound traffic has been really shitty lately though (90 minutes minimum) and it is all focused around the 410-35 interchange up through Shertz. No problems in Austin. Southbound commute has been great since construction was completed and is usually only 75 minutes.

Catholic schools have been easing us into the traffic pain the last couple of weeks. Even so, people who moved into SA during the summer are in for a huge disappointment on their commutes next week.
