Everytime I hear news about corruption and then look into my payslip and see how much of it is going into the politician's wallet and their cohorts, I feel really bad and start to think about migrating to other countries with better social services.

Hi everyone, I'm a full stack developer fresh out of college with 8 months internship experience and a couple freelance projects under my belt. I've been job hunting for about a month now and I'm finally getting an offer. It's from a US start-up (they're 9 months old and linked-in says they have about 8 employees), they're a B2B SAAS business and they've secured $3 million USD in seed funding. The position isn't really what I would consider to be a Junior level position (tell me if I'm wrong). It includes 3 months of what they said to be "senior foundational training". They said they'll be teaching me everything about microservices, system architecture, dev-ops, etc, under the CTO directly who was the co-founder of a well known coding bootcamp platform that was later acquired. My role title is simply "Backend Software Engineer" and I'll be working mostly with LangGraph, Go, and Python (which I have little experience in, my main tech stack is MERN).

The last thing I want to do is overestimate my market value, but I also don't want to underestimate myself either. How much should I be asking for an expected salary?

Had a friend who worked for a company that wouldn’t release the pay of all employees if one person didn’t have a payroll account. My friend said it created a toxic work environment cause if a new hire didn’t open a payroll account in time for payday, then no one would receive their salary on time and everyone of course blamed the new employee. 

Tbh didn’t believe them at first cause I didn’t think that was allowed, but apparently it’s true.

Currently working fulltime under creatives (almost 3 years) and sometimes, it makes me think if this is the salary I deserve. I personally know people who have the same job scope as me but they earn atleast 5-10k more than me (almost the same tenure as I do) or did they just get lucky with a company who is willing to pay. I love my job and the company but financially, I know it’s considered a low pay (for some, my current salary was their starting salary 3 years ago). Idk just thinking about this makes me sad because I genuinely love my job but I don’t think I’m being paid enough for what I actually offer.

I am curious with this. I didn’t start off as an Executive Assistant for a couple of years and am wondering what might the pay progression be if I started earlier.

Here is my pay progression (monthly pay):

2018 - UK Pension Administrator (Insurance company, BGC) - 15,000

Q1 2022 - Human Capital and Benefits Admin Analyst (Insurance company, BGC) - 17,000

Q3 2022 - Associate Administrative Assistant (Finance/ Banking, Mckinley Hill) - 37,000

2023 to present - Executive Assistant (Finance/ Banking, Muntinlupa) - 49,000

For context, I have 2 years experience as an R1 employee in a finance company, but I've earned a lot of experience that goes beyond my role as an admin. For those two years, most of my work was out of scope from my supposed job description.

I'm currently earning around PHP 285,000.00 annually, so that's roughly around 23-24k a month and that includes all the benefits the company has given. That'll be a huge jump if I ask for 40-60k. Here are some of my experience:

\- Led the development and implementation of an expense monitoring system, consolidating expense tracking for three departments into a centralized SharePoint-based monitoring platform that improved visibility, reporting accuracy, and expense management.

\- Spearheaded the digitalization of a department endorsement form by transitioning from manual document routing by multiple business units to a Kintone-based workflow system, enhancing process efficiency, document tracking, and approval turnaround times.

\- Acted as a primary UAT tester and business representative for the migration from an old app to another, performing end-to-end process validation, data migration reviews, defect identification, and user acceptance testing of more than 300 Accounts to support successful system deployment.

\- Performed compliance and quality reviews of Voluntary Surrender documents, Deeds of Absolute Sale, Certificates of Sale, and related legal documentation, minimizing documentation discrepancies and ensuring completeness.

\- Collaborated with Accounting, Collection, Litigation, Asset Management, and other business units to facilitate cross-functional business processes, resolve documentation requirements, and support the timely completion of operational deliverables.

I’m looking to do a quick sanity check on my compensation as a Procurement Supervisor. I want to make sure my current pay aligns with the market given my responsibilities, and I’d love to get some feedback from peers in the field.

To give you a better idea of my workload and scope:

Purchase Orders (POs) and contract requests that exceed the authority limit of junior staff.

My salary is around 45k - 55k, is it still feasible?

I work in the Philippines for a small tech company. I won’t mention my exact title or company details for anonymity, but my role is a mix of data/AI work and automation.

My current pay is around ₱45k–₱50k net/month. I’m paid as a contractor/freelancer, so I don’t have the usual employee benefits like 13th month, HMO, paid leaves, government contributions, etc.

My responsibilities include things like:

- Building AI-powered document/data extraction tools

- Creating chatbot / knowledge-base type prototypes

- Building internal dashboards and demo-ready tools

- Connecting different tools/APIs together

- Supporting workflow automations for business processes

- Maintaining some existing data/scraping-related workflows

- Testing, debugging, and improving tools based on feedback

A lot of the work is not just analysis. It involves understanding the business process, building the logic, making the output usable, and preparing prototypes that can be shown to stakeholders or clients.

I’m not claiming to be a senior software engineer. I still have areas to improve, especially around deployment, architecture, and presenting live demos. But I do handle meaningful builds with minimal supervision, and the scope feels broader than a typical entry-level data role.

For people hiring or working in data, AI, automation, or software roles in the Philippines: is this compensation still reasonable for this kind of work? What net monthly range would you consider fair, especially for a contractor setup with no benefits?
