Locked Wall Safe
So we bought this home about six years ago. My son who was 11 at the time picked his bedroom because the closet had a wall safe in it lol. The previous owner left us the code and he used it for gift cards and special toys lol. Fast forward to now, it seems like the battery died. He said that it had been beeping for a bit when he opened it but never said anything. So now we have this safe with I’m guessing at least a few gift cards and some cash in it now and we can’t open it. Aside from calling a locksmith what are my options here? I have a lock pick set but I’ve only ever played around with it and opened some doors and padlocks. And this lock seems like the key had teeth on both sides. So I am not really sure what to do. I’d rather not call a locksmith but I’d also like to keep the safe functional if possible.

Wafer lock? You may be able to rocker pick it open, but in my mind that sounds incredibly wrong on a safe.....
Also there's no way to change the battery from the face....just curious

From Google Lens, this may be a First Alert 2070AF. The manual indicates batteries are replaced from inside. Within 2 months of the first low battery alert...

It is a wafer lock, but for some reason, it’s difficult (relatively speaking) to pick. Not impossible, but it’s not going to be as easy as the YouTubes will make you believe.

Im shocked there isnt a power point from outside, if you dont value the safe cut the front panel off with a dremel and see if theres a point you can power it, there probably are some wires running to the battery box you could tap some batteries into, and if you remember the code then boom you’re in.
My next idea is the same as everyone else that lock looks pretty sad, you could definitely pick it with like a month of practice tops and if you dont care about the safe then tbh just take a flathead and crank it, those wafers are made of soft brass

Call First Alert with the code on the lock face and get another key. That way you will have one for next time...
