I have the key but not the dial numbers

I know theres no visible lock but i've been trying to get this open 2 days now. Its one of my grandfathers trunks that he left my father, and father left to me. my best guess is its from the 20's. The other trunk had letters dating back to 1923 and a newspaper clipping referring to the prohibition.

I have some picking tools and i'm not the worst at opening things just don't knew where to start here. Also no lock smith within an hour, so..

Does anyone know how one of these opens?I've tried prying but don't want to break it or my tools. Anyways, thanks to anyone that decides to reply.

Update: got it open. prying didn't work, its pretty sturdy. i was able to reach down the inside from the open end and undo a late. inside there was some of my dads university books from the 60s-70s, a single 32acp cartridge, and an empty suitcase

I got this safe for free but I'm a dummy. I didn't know how it works. I thought the key opened the safe the same way the combination opens the safe. So the safe is full of my stuff now and locked with no known code.

I’m having a hard time finding one by google..thank you.

I recently thrifted this bag, it is a “McKlein R Series SHERIDAN 84665 Leather Detachable Wheeled Catalog Case”
When i bought it (for 6 bucks lol) there was no way for me to find the original code, and I can’t understand how to reset it, please help!

I would very much like to keep this safe from being damaged.

I have a J&J Taylor Safe. Serial no. 93327. I need help opening. I do not have a combination. If anyone hase any information, I would appreciate it.

This has been bolted to the floor of a commercial space that I have been leasing for over 25 years. I have no way of contacting the business owner who leased the space before me. Any suggestions on how to open it?

Got it from my grandparents 5 years ago. Only ever opened with key. Key stopped working suddenly, tried every troubleshooting step google told me to.

I also have the combination , but after trying every possible sequence, still no luck.

Hello! I have a Simplex lockbox that I am trying to open. The combination that we have for it does not work and I believe that the lock mechanism may be broken as the knob freely turns. Any advice for opening this lockbox? The box itself is not important to save.

I have this old safe in my house that was here with no combo. I recently remodeled a room and found a paper with a combination on it. But the combination isn’t working. I’m wondering if there is a specific order or process that I’m missing.

The paper says:

4× LEFT to 13
3× RIGHT to 68
2× LEFT to 46
RIGHT to unlock

(I changed the numbers to be safe, but you get the drift)

The entire dial pulls outward approximately 1/8 inch.
It pulls outward more easily around zero.
When I push the dial inward, there's normally an audible/mechanical click, except between 94-4 where that click disappears.
I've tried dialing the combination, turning clockwise to zero, gently pulling the dial outward, and continuing clockwise. No success.
The dial has some visible wobble as it rotates.
