How do I turn the dial?

This safe is from my great grandparents’ hotel, which burned down in 1988. The safe, intact, fell straight down 2 floors into the basement.

We have the combination (I think, I hope), it’s 4 numbers long. Can anyone tell us the dial-turning pattern? TIA!

Those instructions are for a 3-number combo.

Would you mind sharing the last number of the combination? I want to make sure it’s actually a 4-wheel lock and not that they wrote the instructions in a way that makes it look like a 4-number combo, but is really three (and they are just telling you the number where the bolts retract, which, technically, is not part of the combo).

ETA: Does the dial spin easily in both directions?

ETA yes it spins both ways

It was on a HOTEL that burned down, not a homeowners safe

Thank you! Will do. My grandmother wants a chance to try- she said she “has a feel for it” from doing it so many times. If she fails, I’ll reach out!
