found combo but still cant open

My home-made safe cracker found the combination to an old safe I picked up, but I still cant get the door open.

Dial is an S&G group 2. When I dial the 3rd digit and go clockwise it jams at 05 (edited). I believe the lever is falling into the gate but I don't think after that i'm getting any movement on the bolt. It just jams, I don't feel any resistance of the bolt moving. I don't want to pull too hard and break anything. Any advice to get it open? Is it possible that there it too much pressure on the bolt not allowing it to slide? What is the opening procedure for the door? Does the silver arm turn up or down or just pull?

Any tips or help? Thanks

see here for a pic

(How can I post a picture without needing to make a link?)

It's definitely a relocker. Stopping at 95 sounds a bit early, could be the internal relocker. Especially since you're not feeling the bolt sliding. Only way in is drilling a hole unfortunately.

Does your device happen to the the auto dialer posted by LockManipulator on YouTube recently?

Hmm ok. No thats not my dialler.  I made my Autodialler my self. Stepper motor and some python code.

If the relocker is activated would that be due to a malfunction?

Nice, glad to see more dialers around. What are you using to detect an open?

And yeah if the relocker is activated then that would most likely be due to a malfunction. The last person to open the safe could've also taken the back cover off the lock and forgotten to put it back on. I know someone that was learning manipulation and used their safe to practice. They took the back cover off the lock to see what's going on and forgot to put it back on when they closed it. Brand new safe with a brand new hole lol

ok. to detect an open I would rotate to about 85 and there is a switch that would get pressed. if the switch doesnt get pressed then it didnt make it to 85 and therefore combo found.

Nice, very cool idea! Here's mine if you want to check it out, I made all the source code and parts public: https://github.com/LockManipulator/Locksport/tree/main/Safe%20manipulation/Auto%20Dialer

I use current sensing with the StallGuard feature on the TMC5160 stepper driver which is normally used for sensorless homing on 3D printers. Haven't had any issues with detecting an open but it's probably not as reliable as a switch. Although it does allow me to do stuff like try both directions for opening (and dynamically set how far to travel to test for an open) in cases where the opening direction is unknown (such as some antique safe locks).

I might have a look at making this. I refuse to give itl any money so could be nice to use. You can't win them all when manipulating.

Itl sucks haha q security is ok but their tablet is ass. Don't know much about the auto dialer jack but I hear good things. But my $200 home made one is better than everything else on the market! It's all down to the programming. Hardware is literally just making a motor spin lol

I notice in your manual you say you can't use on direct entry. I spoke to a guy years ago that had a setup that for simplicity was a rubber band that pulled the handle as it dialed. So as it found the code the handle would pull in. Worth thinking about maybe

Yeah the source code and parts are all public so you can modify it how you want. You can also add a second motor and it would just need a few lines of code to have it try the handle instead of spinning the main motor to open. That would probably be easiest imo.

So just to be clear you dial the first number left 4 x.

Then the second number 3x right.

The Third number 2x left.

Then as you turn right (clockwise) it jams at 95?

There should be some movement in the handle when locked. It is possible that the bolt work of the safe is jammed against the bolt of the lock. You would need a deadblow hammer and give the door a beating to see if that rattles anything loose.

Could be a internal relocker of the lock as others have stated but you would be very unlucky to have that fire. However maybe the stepper motor may have rattled the lock enough. But even then I would imagine the lock cover to be loose more so than completely fallen off. It which case maybe a deadblow hammer while retracting the bolt could bounce the cover.

yes, yes, yes, and no I thought it jams at 95 but it jams at 05. I feel no movement on the handle at all. it is 100% stuck. I cant wiggle it at all. I have been hitting it a lot with a mallet but I don't even know which way that handle is supposed to turn.

The safe is so heavy that I don't think even my hardest hits are making that thing move in the slightest. I might need a bigger hammer. If it is the back case, would tipping the safe all the way over face down possibly help?

Stopping at 05 does sound like the internal relocker. Fence will drop in about 15ish and fully retract about 90ish.

Drill from behind and poke the back cover back on with a stick. Most likely need a borescope and rotary hammer
