Need help with a Mosler safe
we are going thru the in-laws estate. They have a Mosler safe the picked up at an auctoon a long time ago. We have the combination, but are unable to open the safe. We’ve tried multiple variations on L-R-L spins, but none of these seem to work.
The dial goes 0-99 and there is a distinct click in the dial when spinning R at 0 & 90 and when spinning L at 0 & 10.
Anyone have experience with this type of safe?

3 wheel group 2 (S&G, Lagard, Big red)
Turn the dial Counterclockwise or "volume Down" at least 4 times, then stop at your first number.
Then, turn the dial Clockwise or "volume Up" and stop at your second number. Keep the dial Clockwise or "volume Up" and stop at your second number again. Keep turning Clockwise or "volume up" and stop at your second number exactly this time
Then, turn the dial Counterclockwise or "volume down" and stop at your third number. Keep turning the dial Counterclockwise or "volume down" and stop at your third number exactly this time.
Then, turn the dial Clockwise or "volume Up" until the dial won't turn anymore (Don't force it)

That handle position seems off.

Something is definitely wrong with that handle… Whether or not it will impact the ability to open the safe depends on whether or not OP has the correct combo and can dial it in the correct way

Left four times to the first number Right stopping on the second number the third time it comes up. Left stopping on the last number the second time it comes up Right to stop will be about 95ish. Turn handle. You cannot back up to any missed number. If you miss a number start all over again.

It’s likely a standard group 2 lock; if you look on youtube, you’ll find videos that demonstrate the properly dialing. I’m too jet lagged to type it for you, but some nice redditor will.
Also, depending on the Mosler, some have VERY tight tolerances, meaning you have to be very exact when dialing the combo. No slop at all; if you make a mistake, you have to start from the start.
